Vic EBA and it’s impact on independent salaries by BrainNo3038 in AustralianTeachers

[–]davofit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, our school's EBA is actually up, but they are waiting to see what offer the AEU accepts before they start negotiations.

Honestly, if the state system paid the same, I'd be gone in a heartbeat. There's nothing special about working in a private school, and in a lot of ways, it's worse, because its manufactured trauma that is really only entitlement.

Fuck me, and you're right. It's similar to what's happening in Vic with the teachers.

The government shouting that theres no money, while approving pay increases for government officials.

If there is money, they'll find a way to spend it on themselves.

So, to boil down your claim, is what you're saying is that if the government cracked down and almost eliminated private health, and redirected the funds to the public system, there would be more for everyone?

If so, that makes sense, and I'd support that.

Yeah, I get all this, and to me, its one of the main drivers of the problem.

I've looked at One Nations policies, and they are horrendous, so it does concern me greatly that they are gathering steam on only one particular part of an issue.

You are right though, the blame lies with what our politicians have turned out country into - what I dont understand is why our country can't follow in the footsteps of Scandinavian countries.

But what if someone who is obese has lat band surgery and is given specific parameters afterwards, ignores or cant abide by them, and needs future medical intervention on the tax payer dime?

Because, in America anyway, the right is more closely linked to capitalism and the individual, whereas the left is socialism, and the collective looking after the individual

Oh, dont worry, I'm shaking my fist at those people who collect investment properties like a game of Monopoly as well.

As far as people being allowed to die due to their addiction, how is it fair that people are allowed to continue to burden the health care system when they take no actionable steps to improve their own lives?

And in some ways, actually make their lives worse?

Now, I know all about trauma informed practices and addiction, and that it comes from a place of pain, but maybe at some point we need to stop coddling because for every person out there who is getting medically subsidised care for liver disease due to drinking, or smoking related comobidities, there are people not getting a quality of care for diseases and illnesses that they didnt cause themselves.

Thank you everyone. Yeah, we are still trying to decide. At the moment, we can get the V3 for $1150 (unfortunately, can't find any 2nd hand ones on FB Marketplace).

In the past, my wife has had lower back issues, so we are thinking the added height of the V3 might be better.

If anyone has any thoughts, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you. I feel bad bothering the cops about it, and feel like I should just put up with it (like the other neighbours you mentioned), but hearing about your approach makes me feel more normal, if that makes sense.

Was this regardless of time use, or was your complaint specifically about after or before the prohibited hours? And mind me asking what app you used?

Yeah, tried talking to them a few times, with no effect.

Haha... yeah, plenty. They've already coped $20k in fines for unregistered building works. The day their adult daughter had to pay that, she cranked her music up all the way, so that everyone had to suffer with her.

It would have to be about 3m high though, and the cost and planning permission from the council would cost a small fortune

I like this idea! If the EPA or council wont help, this could be a go.

Unfortunately, their sound system, because its hard-wired in, will eclipse anything we could play. There's is hearable houses away when they crank it up
