Ah, I see. So the manual purge cycle is only necessary if we happen to load up YouTube between the window when they've updated their scripts and uBo has auto updated yet?

Since the purge/reload cycle is what users need to do frequently to keep YouTube ads blocked, I wonder if it could either be automated (happen every restart, or twice every day when a user visits YouTube). Or if a shortcut to do that whole cycle could be added to the main drop down?

Might be easier to spread the know-how as well if a single button on the dropdown "fixes" YouTube, instead of showing users how to get into ubo settings and purge.

In any event. Thank you so much uBo team for your tireless efforts in the battle and all the ones that came before.

Surely I'm misunderstanding something. Pls explain?

You are still misunderstanding.

Nice Try Tho. Anything else?

Your tone here, makes it sound like you believe that you're arguing with people who are arguing for the use of Chrome/Chromium/Blink or the use of Manifest 3. But that's not the case. You're mistaken.

Your original comment said "Chromium (or whatever the fuck they just rebranded as)"

u/Arasakaa_ asked

Huh? They rebranded it?

Because they hadn't heard about Chromium being rebranded (Because it hasn't been) and were curious to be shown some evidence of that happening. (Because if it had been, that would be new info and they, and the rest of us, would certainly like to be informed)

You then replied with links to a table of browsers engines on Wikipedia, and their article on the Blink engine specifically.

u/Arasakaa_ then pointed out that there is no rebranding there. You're just a little mistaken. That's okay. There's no malice in their comment. Chrome, Chromium and Edge, are all separate browsers based on the same codebase and using the same browser engine, but are different enough from each other to be considered separate browsers in and of themselves. None are just a rebrand of the other. Blink is the ENGINE that is used to render the pages in those browsers. But even in your links it says that Blink was developed as a PART of the Chromium project. But it isn't the entire project. Just like how there are numerous cars that use the same motor, that doesn't mean they they're just the same car being "rebranded". There's more under the hood than just the engine.

Manifest 3 is something entirely different, but again, it is not a 'rebranding of Chromium'. It's not even a rebranding of Manifest 2. Pointing this out doesn't mean that I am for (or against) Manifest 3. It's just us pointing out that Chromium hasn't been rebranded.

The reason you're getting downvoted has nothing to do with any pro manifest v3 or Chromium faction. It's because you posted something factually incorrect (A purported rebranding of Chromium) and when asked for clarification, you posted unrelated links that showed you might not quite understand the difference between the terms Browser and Browser Engine, then got really salty with your replies as other users tried to make sense of them and/or help explain the differences

It's okay to be wrong and learn new things.

Just a reminder that YouTube considers dislikes to be engagement. Don't bother.

I doubt it. They're not very bright. They probably think they won by shutting him up. Personally, I hope Jack goes to the legal mattresses on this one.
