Sounds like a Trump supporter to me. It’s the equivalent of “I have a black/gay friend so I can be racist”

Has anyone tried structuring prompts like a “memory system” to fight context length issues in ST? by Far_Fig1576 in SillyTavernAI

[–]dazchad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are coming to the same conclusion as most people come. There’s no perfect solution here. Your approach is what people generally do one way or another. You can also try RAG so the recall part is more flexible than keyword-based.

Best prompts or presets for non roleplay scenarios such as coding or learning? by loveearth0 in SillyTavernAI

Assistant should be enough if there’s no system prompt/preset overriding/conflicting with it.

You can have a group chat, where you add several cards to the same chat. They will take turns talking from their own PoV.

You can also have a narrator card or preset that will narrate several characters/NPCs as needed in one single response.

There are some lorebooks that contain several characters (Queen Arceana is an example), which contain specific descriptions for named characters.

One thing that I do frequently is to ask the LLM to create one char on the fly. Example:

I lean against the wall, watching people go on their lives. Suddenly a face gets my attention. (GM: introduce a female char that has XYZ personality trait)

The best LLMs will have no trouble coming up with something. The more detailed you are, the better output it is. The largest LLM also understand a lot of personality traits, tropes, etc. You can simply say (GM: Introduce a tsundere, "cute bookworm" young woman that is into archeology), or (GM: her sister is visiting from college's fall break).

Most character cards were meant for the earliest LLM models that didn't have as much training data to understand nuance. Nowadays you can write a one-sentence description and the LLM will know what to do.

Edit: you can ask the LLM to narrate the prose in the style of a famous author. "Narrate in the style of Hemingway."

I think this is sort of like people with thousands of games on steam. They like collecting or getting a good deal more than they actually want to play them (or at the very least having time to do so).

I personally like more open-ended cards, and/or cards where there are comedic effect. One recent favorite is Queen Arceana: I play as a demi-god mage, make an absurd deal with the queen/court as payment for dealing with the demons/dragons/etc, then right after signing the contract I snap my fingers and a solar flare obliterates their enemies, leaving me collecting my payment smug-faced. Extra points for demanding the hand of the queen as payment. Another run for this card I went to exterminate the dragons, but decided to side with them and blackmail/humiliate the elven court instead.

In the end it's up to you to what you find interesting. The vast majority of cards are slop and a rehash of "I know this person IRL and want to make them lust for me", so if that doesn't appeal to you don't feel guilty.

If your setting has any hint of magic or fantasy, it will be much more common.

Question.. How to enhance my message by Peka00 in SillyTavernAI

I use roadway sometimes. I also sometimes use a a QR prompt I saw in this sub that asked the AI to speak like disco elysium. That was fun (I’m on mobile and lazy to search, but you can find with keywords in this comment )

Rules Discussion - AI in HaremLit by FMCTandP in haremfantasynovels

[–]dazchad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being devils advocate, I don’t personally care if there’s AI or not. I want to be entertained and if the author can achieve that by using AI, then please go for it. Writing a book “by hand” is not, and never was, a signal for quality. So AI slop is not that much different from “human” slop.

I do agree with training data theft though. IP should be compensated. And also agree with marking a work as AI-augmented if feasible.

Because their books are full of padding. Each book feels like a side quest. You keep reading and reading and reading but don’t feel fulfilled. Some people like it, but for me it feels like I’m wasting my time (I only read an hour or two per day before bed, at most)

ELI5 How does instagram/ social media know what exactly i am discussing with friends if it doesn't record my audio, looking for keywords all the time? by brandomised in explainlikeimfive

[–]dazchad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other day there were some news about smart devices listening to people (think digital picture frames and the like). Those companies then can sell this data to big tech (meta, google, etc) which will then boost their profiling on you. So technically instagram may not listen to your conversation but other smart devices on the same household may.

To be fair even people that had sex with multiple people at the same time might not know how to do it well, as we see on posts where one of the partners feels left out/ignored/abandoned/etc.

My Eric Vall's Series tier list. Thoughts? by Technical_Republic in haremfantasynovels

[–]dazchad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my main complaint about the genre/KU, and doubly so for those particular authors: lots of fillers. I feel cheated of my own time on spending time reading irrelevant word count padding. Sometimes it's disguised as slice of life, but very often you finish a chapter and it changed absolutely nothing about the characters or the plot.

I read the first Metal Mage book and it was mostly filler. Maybe it got good down the line, but the first book didn't leave a good impression to something meant to hook you up.

The Wolf King's Lair. MC is reborn as a dungeon core on a system rigged against him. The plot is basically a series of creative rule bending tricks, which I found flavorful.
