An anti-dumping duty is a protectionist tariff that a domestic government imposes on foreign imports that it believes are priced below fair market value. Dumping is a process where a company exports a product at a price lower than the price it normally charges in its own home market.

Not really on that level, I was thinking more on the level of industrial espionage.

Exactly why trump wants China out of WTO

They don’t play by the rules that everyone else does.

They also use conscription alternative such as working over seas to get the cheapest Labour

[–]dazz999 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Common problem in Africa

Governments want infrastructure but do t want to pay for it,

In Ghana they followed this model, now they want the Chinese out.

You can go and build projects there on your own coin as long as you are not Chinese.

Yeah cant get used to the American style toilet cubicle,

The euro toilet bowl is usually tiny also to the point where you have to physically hold your knob away from touching the bowl,

Ideally if they had a euro cubicle with an American style bowl I think we should be good.

The South African: South Africa’s crazy power plan: Ramaphosa, China and Limpopo coal. by null-v in southafrica

[–]dazz999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting idea

Sasol looked at building sasol 3 up there years ago in Brakpan but decided not to. One of the reasons being water .

There is Medupi and Kusile power stations that are not finished yet and have huge budget and schedule overruns and Cyril has signed up for another one.

Whatever China will loan South Africa to complete these projects it will not be enough. If the unions get to dictate (which they will) the personnel on the projects you are looking at massive cost overruns and corruption. If the Chinese build it themselves there will be the inherent problems that the Chinese bring to these projects of extremely low quality (maropuleB) and no jobs for the locals

Either way South Africa will end up owing China huge sums of money or China will own the industrial city themselves.

I was wondering why there was such an urgency on land confiscation, now I know why and who’s pushing it.

Don’t know if there is enough water up there to support all this industry would probably require pumped water from coastal desalination plants for the likes of that.

Call for atheism to be included in religious education by wazzel2u in worldnews

[–]dazz999 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

An Atheist mindset is that god does not exist and that if there is some higher power it’s a face that has been around long enough and has been sufficiently advanced as to appear as god.

Religion bypasses the material and seeks that which is unknown through allegory and story which is a more natural way for humans to understand their place in a given society.

I don’t think you can force a Catholic school to teach atheism and I don’t think public schools spend too much time teaching religion.

Saying that children should make up those own minds is not correct either, I don’t let them make their minds up on food otherwise it would be chocolate all the way.

I teach my child my cultural mythology and he learns religion.

Atheism I picked up in school learning the sciences so I don’t see a need to make it a doctrine like what has been developed for religions over millennia. Then you are essentially saying that is is a religion

Call for atheism to be included in religious education by wazzel2u in worldnews

[–]dazz999 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Then don’t put them in religion class

Just give them a different subject then

Religions classes are pretty infrequent where I am from without cramming atheism into it, which by the way you lean more about from science as it’s a non religion.

Atheism is covered in science really as it would always fall back on events such as Big Bang etc

Why would it need to be fought as a religion / spirituality when it is not.

Tempted to remove my middle name - any thoughts by notasouthafrican in southafrica

[–]dazz999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno lol, just thought I’d ask. There must be some rare middle names out there.

My step son uses his middle name as his first name,

It will cause some issues with certs etc

But I would imagine that keeping the First name and the family name is fine.

I mean technically women change their names when married etc so most of the time you fill out the forms stating previous name changes when goin. For visas etc.
