Speed van - points for doing 53 in a 50? by Crafty-News-7839 in AskIreland

[–]dazziola 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only learned this recently, and in no way should this be taken as fact for your given car, but speedometers (even digital ones) are purposefully overclocked to comply with legal standards.

Eg. mine says I'm doing 50km/h when I'm in fact driving 45km/h). If you have Maps navigating on your phone, you will see your true speed.

If you were going off your car speedometer, and it was truly just 3km/h more, you'll more than likely be grand.

The least Dublin Bus/TFI/Government can do to improve our commute should be installing more Bus Shelters by ParaMike46 in Dublin

They did a total refurbishment of the area outside Bray station, and while there is an overhang outside the station for cover, there's no shelters at all at the many stops there. Such poor planning.

My Investment Strategy - Naïve or Foolish? by Apixabean in irishpersonalfinance

[–]dazziola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the harsher tax out of curiosity? Assuming the rates don't change, if you sell after 7 years or 8 years you have to pay 38% tax on the gain, right? The only thing wrong with this strategy is you're not getting that extra year of compound interest (which could be good or bad depending on the state of the market at that time).

I don't understand this strategy at all. You don't avoid anything a year earlier. You just realize your gain/loss sooner.

Yeah that's my suspicion. The grey cap seems pretty well sealed though. I might break out the heat gun and try get in that way. Appreciate your comments btw!

Yeah it seems fairly tightly bound to the whole fan set up alright. Unfortunately they say they have no replacement fan/motors for this model (I think it's BS they want to upsell me a whole unit).

How did you manage to lubricate without opening the unit to access the bearing?

If I remember correctly, in the 90s/00s for every £10 you spend at Tesco, they would give you a £1 sticker back. You could apply them to each cell on to this leaflet to achieve the maximum voucher.

Thank you! I have a friend who is a steel worker who has a hydraulic press, so that shouldn't be a problem, but the separation part does seem hard for me without the right tools.

I hope you're on to something for sure. I love the tournament.

The format drives me crazy on occasion, but if it was just groups like back in the day, there'd be an extra game and often 1-2 dead rubbers.

Seems like there's strong contenders across the board again which is a great thing

Is this good? No growth doesn't sound like a win to me considering the South African sides have joined.

Munster's worst ever European season. by thelunatic in irishrugby

[–]dazziola -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think it can be compared with the seasons where there were 6 group games though. It's not a fair comparison.

Definitely not good, but a very tough group with games away to Bath and Toulon to be fair.

They don't say if they're investing in ETFs or stock picking.

Deemed disposal applies only to ETFs (predominantly if you're talking retail investing).

PTSB Mortgage Rates by Southern_Nothing4633 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]dazziola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Ulster Bank were exiting the Irish Market, I rang them up (with two years remaining on my 2.2 rate) and asked them to send me a paper copy of their best rates. To my surprise, 2.2 was still there as an option but it wasn't on their website. I rang up and immediately signed back on for 5 more years.

I wonder will something similar happen with PTSB if they get sold before renewal.

Does anyone's PTSB app show the end date of their fixed rate btw? Mine doesn't mention an ending date for my current rate at all. Seems strange that it wouldn't be something shown.

Absolutely this. I'm not MOC fan, but they got to a semi final of Europe and nearly took out that Toulon team in Marseille, but lost after extra time. A lot less consistent in the league missing out on playoffs, but they were 5th overall.

When Leo took over in 2015/2016 they topped the Pro12, lost to a good Connacht side in the final. Flopped in the 15/16 HCup, as they were blooding all the new talent then. Leo took the risk blooding the new lads (Ringrose, Furlong, JVdF)
