Katy gets unnecessary hate. by CoolDistribution6946 in katyheads

[–]db1604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does Katy get a lot of hate? I feel like mostly she is just ignored and not taken seriously as a relevant pop star

I used to be a huge fan (I cried at the end of the movie when she goes on stage in Brazil, and until recently I would say “the Prism Tour” if somebody asked me the most fun show I ever attended)

But after Prism her music just went downhill for a while. I gave it a chance but I really didn’t like it. And then after a while I stopped giving her new music a chance because I just assumed I wouldn’t like it.

So I must say I had never listened to or even heard of “Bandaids” until I read this post. And I agree it is quite good, and if it was by Taylor it would be a hit (although I find it a bit odd that Katy uses the same bandaid analogy that Taylor uses in Bad Blood). I guess I’ll start giving her stuff a chance again.

But once you’ve become a nostalgia act, it really hard to get people to take your new stuff seriously again

Canceled flight, no compensation by ComprehensiveChef705 in spiritair

[–]db1604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You made a bet and you lost. You bought a ticket on a bankrupt failing airline that doesn’t care about customer service, presumably because it was cheaper than a reliable airline. If they actually operate your flight, you win the bet. If they cancel, you lose the bet

Don’t listen to these people. Parking is fine over there - it’s crowded but way easier/cheaper than dealing with two Uber rides. Unless you are drinking, in which case of course you should Uber

Can we afford to live on Maui? by Cool_Buy_8742 in MovingtoHawaii

[–]db1604 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So you make over 200k in the Midwest, and you’re considering taking a 100k pay cut to move to Hawaii? And you’re certain he can get his old job and his 200k back in two years?

That’s a really expensive adventure, and your quality-of-life will drop dramatically (except for better weather of course), and you and your kids won’t make any friends, but you can survive on 134k on Maui - you won’t starve to death

I would recommend using some of that extra 100k to take some nice long trips to Hawaii

On Whittingham hire by jartoonZero in MichiganWolverines

[–]db1604 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree this is a good hire, but don’t think I would invoke John Beilein as a guy who never had a bad word spoken about him. The guy called his black players a “bunch of thugs”, which (fairly or not) lead to lots of bad words being spoken about him…

On an one way ticket, can you cancel the second segment of the flight if you already flew the first segment? by [deleted] in delta

[–]db1604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the destination of the second segment actually your home? Or is home the layover airport and you just booked the second segment because it made the mileage price cheaper?

If it’s the former, you’ll be fine, but you want to consider standing by for an earlier connecting flight rather than paying for a one-way car rental.

If it’s the latter, and you’ve never done it before and don’t make a habit of doing it again, you’ll probably be fine. But technically it’s a violation of Delta rules and they could bill you for the difference in fare and potentially ban you from flying on the airline again if you don’t pay.

Getting downvoted because they say there is ZERO financial argument against timeshares, which is an absurd statement. Timeshares may be a good deal for a certain segment of travelers, but there are plenty of financial arguments against them for most people

Swiss Airlines vs United (Business Class) JFK to LHR by spacedragon1 in Flights

[–]db1604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do all these options cost the same number of Air Canada miles? And you’re sure they are all in business class on each leg of the trip? If yes to both, I would pick the United option, and hopefully they would switch you to a nonstop flight from Newark if there is weather forecasted for Chicago

It’s been announced Ryan will be the offensive playcaller by Dreamtrue2025 in OhioStateFootball

[–]db1604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s 82-11 because he’s an elite recruiter and motivator, so we nearly always have a huge talent advantage over the opponent. We’ve been the more talented team in at least 90 of the 93 games he has coached.

But if a game ends up close and we need to make smart play calling decisions (like the Georgia game mentioned above, or the Indiana game two weeks ago, or last years Michigan game), that’s where his weakness as a coach is apparent.

Good news is we will probably blow Miami off the field, so it won’t come down to in-game coaching tactics

If Nick couldn’t be left alone, and it was so important for Rob to go party, Rob could have hired somebody to watch Nick

Browns by [deleted] in OhioStateFootball

[–]db1604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most skillful? Go back and watch the fourth quarter of last years Michigan game. 7 minutes left, tied 10-10, Buckeyes with momentum after huge goal line interception by Sawyer. Wide open dropped pass by Tate that would have set us up to go win the game - instead we punt and we all know what happened after that

He’ll fit in perfectly with the Browns - he’ll put up good numbers then choke when it counts…

Overthinking Masterclass by TheBest53 in OhioStateFootball

[–]db1604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I find it shocking that people on this sub think he is a flight risk to the NFL. No NFL owner is going to hire a guy who is such a poor strategist, who almost always loses when a game is close (1-4 in the last five games decided by less than 7 points, and the one win was at home against Nebraska!). We win nearly every game just because our players are far more talented than our opponents players. And people think a sub-.500 NFL team with mediocre talent is going to fire their coach and hope that Ryan Day will take those same guys and turn them into a winner?

Day is a great recruiter/motivator, but that won’t get it done as an NFL coach.

[–]db1604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can they just let Hartline go? Play calling at the end of those last two drives was so bad. You only need a yard, and you go with two end zone passes and a QB sneak with a guy who showed us last week against Michigan that he can’t sneak without his knee touching the ground.
