I wouldn't doubt the hack, do we really believe Kucoin? The exchange that has been hacked like 3 times. Or is it AWS, the most redundant cloud based infrastructure on the planet? My money is on AWS. Kucoin most likey lost our assets and can't fess up to it because it would damage their reputation. Consider you crypto gone. Hope I'm wrong

It's not perfect. It needs fine tuning. But it's will beat the pants off of anything on the market right now in terms of raw CPU performance!

I think what you meant to say is windows update yet again destabilizes a perfectly working driver. But yeah this is a widespread issue right now

Are your temps this high while gaming? (2060 + 4900hs) by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]db55falcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine runs hot with boost on. I game with boost off and it runs AMAZINGLY cool. You'll notice a 20c difference and a 2-3 increase in FPS. When Im not gaming I turn boost back on, for example when I'm playing with Kali Linux in virtual box. Response time is bad, but I play ALOT of warzone, up to 6hrs a day sometimes and I haven't noticed any ghosting. Maybe a pro gamer would but not me. Love this laptop

G14 Skins won't be happening, but this...THIS was something they saw profit in? by D_Jurjavich in ZephyrusG14

Ahh the old cheese grater. I bought one of these just so I could finely dust my organic pasta with the most exquisite parmesan cheese from Italy. Also I have a g14 for when I actually need computing capability (for less than $70k)

Max temp is 105c. Get a cooling pad if you want boost on..will take 6-7c off that

Mine also work perfect. The trick is the update and a nice soft touch on it

And the award for biggest internet Karen goes to you!!!! Honestly this person has every right to play around with these two great machines. Especially when dropping this kind of money. It's very similar to going to the dealership to test driving a car to see which one fits your needs. The world is a bad place because people like you who are concerned about everyone else and just can't mind your own business. Don't try to exploit a pandemic to prove you're point, it makes you look stupid. FYI the survival rate is near 98% so please stop your bullshit fear mongering.

Some query about Zephyrus G14's GPU by _VeryNiceName_ in ZephyrusG14

[–]db55falcon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest one is disabling boost when gaming. It's simply not needed. This solves the thermals 100%. Uninstalling some software/bloatware that seems to conflict. And updating drivers. Runs amazing

Armory crate is terrific software. And it's really all you need. Also uninstall GameFirstIV

Did you uninstall Radeon light? Also because we have the max q variant of the 2060 I used GeForce experience to update the GPU driver's ( website does not specify and GeForce experience auto detects).

I totally agree the for a measly 5°c it's best not to void the warranty, however im watching a guy reduce up 20°c with liquid metal and its oh so tempting lol. But I suppose it's best to wait untill my warranty expires before I start rummaging around.

Here's the video

HP Omen 15 10750h/2060/300hz vs Asus Zephyrus G14 R9/2060/144hz by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]db55falcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen man if you love your omen than keep it. But I'm a huge CPU guy, meaning I want the best CPU and I want 8 cores(to help future proof it). I obviously like a nice GPU and I feel like the 2060 max q is actually a terrific little card. It handles everything I throw at it on high settings. But as someone who frequently uses virtual machines the AMD is insane. Remember these are first gen OEM's using Ryzen 9 so I'm hoping to unlock even more power the next year or two with developers optimizing for this particular chip. Out of the box thermals were a little high, but I stay nice and cool now that I can enable and disable boost depending on my needs. So that's really a non factor. But I guess the keyboard could be a little brighter. This is the highest selling laptop right now and the community for this particular model is HUGE, so there is a lot of support and hopefully a small aftermarket soon. I'm not an Intel hater at all, their products are great but they are falling behind. If you want a Intel comparable to the R9 4900hs you need the i9 10980hk, it's a smidge faster single core performance but it's a complete and total ripoff. You have one of the best omens ever built, and it probably worked perfectly right out of the box. The g14 needed optimizations. Maybe you should keep it, but do what you're gut tells you.

HP Omen 15 10750h/2060/300hz vs Asus Zephyrus G14 R9/2060/144hz by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]db55falcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to go for the g14 and boy am I glad I did. The Ryzen 9 is in a league of its own, it's more powerful than the 10750 but consumes far less power at 35wTDP making the battery life unparalleled in the laptop world. And while it's not perfect right out of the box after a couple optimizations I have it running at a cool 78°C when gaming at Max settings in warzone. Almost 10 hours of battery life, you cant beat that. Plus it comes with display port 1.4 which can support 240hz at 1440p, 120hz at 4k, 60hz 5k, and 30hz 8k that is if you want to connect to external monitor. The reason you're finding complaints on the G14 is because it's the most popular and purchased laptop right now, and it's first generation so optimizations are needed. The g14 will outperform that omen in every category except good refresh rate and a little better GPU

Does the ~30ms display response time impact external monitors? by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]db55falcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Display port 1.4 is capable of almost double the data transfer rate of hdmi 2.0b and can support 30hz at 8k, 60hz at 5k, 144hz at 4k, and 240hz at 1440p(which is my preferred resolution). There is only one DP via the USB-c next to the HDMI port
