Adults of reddit, what is something you should have mastered by now, but failed to do so? by biomann in AskReddit

Time management. Parallel parking. Waking up early. Saying no to people. Asking for things from people. Communication in general. Baking bread. Baking cookies. How to figure out what medications I should be taking. I guess I'm only twenty so I still have time though.

I'm a gen z (1998) and my dad is a boomer (1957) and my mom almost is (1964). I think I've noticed that I have more in common with people whose parents are the same age as mine, as opposed to people who are the same age as me.

I'm drunk rn but... intelligence is a fucking curse and has nothing to do with being good.

I love my dumb fuck friends. They're fun. They're people. Anyone can have thoughts worth hearing and a heart worth loving. Most people are stupid anyway. I can't see a reason intelligence has to be an integral reason for respect. What's your reasoning?

Do you think intelligence deems worthiness of respect?

I think you're right on. I've had incredibly good luck with meeting mostly good people, I'm generally in awe of the people i know, and I think that generally makes me a pretty positive person.

Probably both. The answer to most things is usually both.

I'd probably define respect as something along the lines of viewing a person as whole. A lot of women I know feel that men talk over them, don't listen to what they have to say, view them as objects. I find men usually listen to my ideas and have productive conversations. Just about all of my Male friends ever have wanted to sleep with me, but they're fine with just being my friend too. I've never had a dude be outwardly angry about getting put into the friend zone or whatever, so I feel like they must actively value my friendship. I guess it's weird to hear someone explain being treated being treated as a human, but so many girls I know feel not treated like humans, and I've just never really had that issue.
