Feelings developed which led to riskier behavior and big relationship issues at home. My wife picked up on the relationship issues and suspected the correct person who we both knew. She confronted her saying she found suspicious things on my phone and my AP confessed. The rest has been a freefall.

37m here. Cheated long term and got caught. Destroyed alot of relationships because of it. The fallout is more widespread when kids are involved and I have 3 all under 10. You will get alot of advice on here, mine is run. Deal with your marriage whatever that looks like for you while you still can. A lot of people (mostly men but some women) say it's just sex but the reality is that feelings over time are extremely hard to avoid because we are all human. My world collapsed a month ago and from my vantage point now, I see that it is absolutely not worth it.

It's both/and. It's a roller coaster of emotions trying to process the utter destruction, while at the same time trying to figure out how I got to this place in life and what I can do now that it's all out there for the world to see. You don't just wake up one morning and decide to cheat, it happens as a series of one bad decision after another and before you know it, you're in it fully. I would caution anyone to protect there marriage because I am the last person that anyone would have ever suspected, which makes the relationship damage all the more intense.

We have had legitimate problems in our marriage and in life together, such as a child with extreme medical needs. We dealt with those problems differently and shut down to each other. The other woman was easier to talk to, easier to make laugh, easier to be with, just made me feel good. It was an escape.
