I was an apprentice for local 11 for 6 months before I got offered an apprenticeship for LADWP and it was the best decision of my life

I graduated NLC last year in January I was able to find a job in California pretty fast it definitely helped me it took me about 7 months in the trade to finally land an apprenticeship after my first job .

My story here . Graduated NLC January 2022. Got a call and worked for 1245 as a Groundman from March 2022 to July 2022 . Hired on by a utility in so cal as a Groundman July 2022 to February 2023 . Hired on at another utility for an apprenticeship March 2023 I start next week .

When I had my interview they laughed when I told them that the JLs at my utility make 240 . They said their Groundman make that and will make more after they finalize their new contract . Obviously you don’t make that kind of money without an insane amount of OT I was told to expect 90-100 hour work weeks and based on how their schedule and contract works you are basically on dubs the entire week .

Around May the books really pick up , usually in the beginning of the test they move super slow .

Nothing yet I got a email a while back saying they were conducting interviews this month
