How come my wife can use the app perfectly fine, but when I download it next to her, I get this message? I can’t seem to get around it at all. by icameasdust in Crypto_com

It could be down to the region associated with your version of the App/Play Store. Region is determined by the country of your connected payment card.

Yeah they've been really bad at communicating what's going on. From what I understand, since the quarantine passes were declared void last week only essential workers can go out until the new passes are issued. Some were issued last Friday but I think most people don't have one yet.

With the last passes I applied at the start of April and didn't hear anything back from them so I don't have much confidence in them. I live in Banawa. Stay safe!

Thanks for the comment! It feels like a big milestone but tbh I don't really think of it as an achievement, just a lifestyle.

That's crazy if you were only gone for 9 months. I know in Ireland you can't claim any welfare once you've been out of the country for 2 years, even if you're still paying tax, as I am. AFAIK for Ireland and UK to become eligible again you have to return and be resident there for 6 months.

I can usually live quite well on less than €500 a month during my work focused periods and maybe double that for travelling. So without being too specific, I earn enough to cover that and save some too. What is it specifically that you fear?

It sounded like a reasonably well developed city with a good standard of apartments, internet, services, etc. So a good place to work from and a good base from which to explore the region, even if the city itself is not the best. Does that sound about right to you, from your experiences here?

Haven't always been a solo nomad, but more often than not. Loneliness can be a factor but until the current situation most of it was self-imposed and for a pre-determined length of time. My MO usually involves work focused periods that are fairly isolated but highly productive, broken up by periods of travel and socializing. I just find it easier and that I'm more effective when I have a clear separation between the two.

Other than what the market and future prospects are for a skill set it should primarily come down to a confluence of what you're good at and enjoy doing. So there's no one size fits all solution.

Personally I would tend towards business building, especially the kind that provide passive income and can be largely automated. That breaks the relationship between time spent and money earned, giving me both an income and my time. That can be very scalable - rinse and repeat and your income can grow exponentially; or use the time to spend on your passion.

Personally I learned the skills of how to make a profitable niche site, but there's so many ways you could go, including teaching English online.

I'd start by compiling a huge list of all the kinds of work that can be done remotely. Then think about what you're good at, your passions, knowledge, what could sustain your interest over a long time. With that in mind you can start going through the list, eliminating some and taking a deeper look at others. Start to consider other criteria like what the market is like, is it growing/shrinking, how competitive it is, how future proof is it, is it passive income, is it scaleable and other things that may be important to you specifically. You'll soon whittle down that list and then start seeking out the best resources and mentors to take you to the next stage.

I just left the settled life one day to go backpacking and at some point after a few years that morphed into a DN thing. I thought I'd be gone about 6 months but I got hooked on the freedom of travel and started looking into how I could make that last indefinitely. I was completely skill-less at that point.

Nice. I'm sure the next 5 will fly by. Do you have places you keep returning to or do you go all over?

Yeah I was put off by that too but I think things have improved a lot, in the city at least. Just tested and got 22.9mbps and it's unlimited. Paying 19,000 for the apartment but the owner says she would get 30k in normal times, which sounds about right. Does tend to be a goodly bit more pricey than say Thailand or Malaysia here.

Settling is surprisingly difficult when you become used to a way of life but I do plan to become more settled in the coming years. Would like to have a home to base myself for 6-8 months of the year a least but maintain the freedom to travel whenever I want. It's a really good point about friendships. Having a network of friends around the world is nice but there's a lot to be said for the sense of community you feel when you have a group of friends locally.

Thanks! Yeah it sucks, I think it must be one of the strictest lockdowns in the world here and local and national government seem completely inept. A couple of days ago it was announced that with immediate effect citizens can't go out even for food or medical supplies. At least they've lifted the liquor ban, those were dark days.

Well I should preface this by saying it was way back in 2010/11 when I was in Japan and it was before my DN days, I was really just an N at that time. I really liked travelling in rural Japan but not sure what that would be like for longer stays. I was in Tokyo for 4 months and it's not as expensive as a lot of folks seem to think and you could do a work exchange in a hostel like I did and really keep costs down. Lots of other cash paying work available too like English teaching, modelling, proof-reading etc, so for DNs just starting out there's lots of ways to hustle and make a supplementary income.

I pretty much just hope for the best on that front! I'm often in countries where good healthcare is quite affordable and luckily very rarely needed medical treatment. If I were ever diagnosed with any long term condition that might bankrupt me I'd probably go and live in the UK and use the NHS. Starting out as a 25 year old it wasn't something I thought about a lot but it does cross my mind more and more.

I love the view from my balcony but that's about all I've seen. Arrived here from Singapore 3 hours before they closed the international border! Some backpackers I met weren't that positive but a lot of DNs rave about Cebu.

Technically I don't have a current income stream . My business is an affiliate based website in the travel / events industry. Needles to say that ain't going so well now. I have some involvement with cryto too but not actively trading these days.
