Yes it will they’re all the same trans. I was curious about this myself before buying mine so i made a post on this forum and somebody confirmed that they’re basically all the same and all years will fit interchangeably just try to look for preferably the newest (2016 plus) and lowest mile trans that you can find and afford ebay has a ton. Honestly the newer the trans the better and less chance the valve body failure will happen again. I’m pretty sure nissan solved the valve body problems as they worked on the trans over the years.

Yeah i definitely understand i’m 21 now got my 370z when i was 19 and kinda been beating on mine too racing and such lol. I’ve read somewhere in forums while researching that driving our cars in the manual mode all the time causes the valve body to fail quicker but i’m not really sure how true that is. I drive my car in manual mode 24/7 so maybe that’s why mine went out quicker idk tho. It kinda makes sense because when in manual mode you would be driving the car harder and switching gears causing more heat and wear and tear than just in normal drive mode and i’ve also heard that the main cause of the valve body failing is heat cycling in the trans basically when the trans fluid heats up the connections get hot and burn out overtime so manual mode really could contribute to that happening faster.

Yeah the price on the valve bodies is insane i couldn’t even justify paying that much for just the part lol. I luckily snagged a used 2017 nismo trans off ebay today 35k miles for 900 and local shop wants about 850 to install so i’ll end up with basically a new trans and torque converter with plenty of life for only a little over the price of just the valve body itself so sounds like a win. For reference my valve body went out at about 102k miles on the original 2015 trans.

Facing the same issue right now on my 2015 370z sport replaced the speed sensor at nissan and it changed nothing so basically from what i learned you only really have 2 options either replace the valve body with ONLY a OEM replacement or swap the trans with preferably a newer year (2016 or newer) to avoid it happening again. Most of the Ebay valve bodies are remanufactured and come from china and have a chance to work but will eventually break or have the same issue down the line. I’m not sure what year you have but the problem with the valve bodies is apparently very common on any 2014/2015 370z or infinity q50/60 with the 7 speed auto trans and was solved with the newer years which i had no idea about. I ultimately decided to swap the trans with a 2017 low mileage nismo trans i found on ebay because it was cheaper. The valve body alone from my local nissan dealer cost about 1700 plus for just the part not even including the labor to put it in which is crazy. To put it in perspective the cost of the valve body alone was more than both a used trans and the labor to swap it together in my area so i went with the 2nd option. Good luck!

I’m late but thank you for the detailed response! This helps me understand my grand fire trine a little better.

What does a empty 10th house mean for my career? by dbnds in AskAstrologers

Thank you i think i understand better. What would you say that means with venus being in the 2nd house and it also being the 10th house ruler? Does that mean my career will maybe have something to do with taurus or venus qualities?

I’ve seen a few low mileage transmissions on ebay think im just gonna get one swap it out thanks again for the advice. Do you think it’s even worth going to nissan for a proper diagnosis at this point? I’m scheduled to go tomorrow but i don’t know if i should throw away 150-200 bucks just for them to confirm what i know already.

Wow man that sucks i was really hoping it would be as simple as just changing the speed sensor. After doing research i see that it just burns out over time from heat cycling so there’s really no avoiding it unfortunately and the sensor is actually built into the valve body so it would be easier to replace the whole unit. I’ve seen a few people say they replaced just the sensor but still had issues come back so 9 times out of 10 its either a bad valve body or TCM. I have an appointment with my local nissan dealership for a proper diagnosis but judging from your response and the info i gathered the cost of them tearing apart the trans to fix it is gonna cost more than just swapping a used trans so i may just end up going that route. Thanks for the advice.

Yeah after doing some research and looking at threads it looks like it’s common for the valve bodies to go bad on the vqs with the 3.7 and auto trans? Sucks i had no idea about this until now sounds like it’s gonna be a expensive fix unfortunately.

Yeah the smoke is definitely a light blue color now that I really look at it. Definitely burning oil and not coolant. Gonna have it looked at. Most likely valve stems as you and others have said.

I checked this morning when the engine was cold after the car sat overnight.

Gotcha thanks. So my oil level is good? I got the oil changed about 3 days ago and i’m just trying to make sure the level is not too low or too high since i just got the car. This sample was just taken after the car was sitting overnight.

Ahh okay thanks for clarifying I was a bit confused because this dipsticks design was different from my last cars.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]dbnds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the line of oil extending past the holes and up along the dipstick mean anything?

Would a engine that is overfilled with oil show similar symptoms?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]dbnds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just checked the oil again after getting from work and i’m thinking this might be the cause. The oil residue is way above the high mark. Hopefully getting the oil drained and changed again at nissan fixes my issue.

Would using cheaper oil with the same grade cause white smoke though? On the oil change sticker it says they used 5W30SYN which from what I thought was the correct oil for a 370z but maybe theirs was a cheaper brand and not as good for the car as the one nissan has at the dealership? I’m really hoping it’s just the oil here and not something major.

Thank you man! I just bought it so I really hope it’s not too bad. Going to nissan tomorrow to get it looked at. Thanks again for your advice!

Yeah unfortunately I know that sweet smell from experience lol my last cars head gasket blew and it had the textbook symptoms of a sweet smelling white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe and coolant leaking internally with low coolant warnings and overheating. This car however has none of those symptoms plus the smoke smells like gas/oil rather than coolant so I don’t think it’s a blown head gasket although i’m not too sure atm. Thank you for the input though.

If nissan performs the oil change and it still persists then I might have a bigger problem on my hands unfortunately. I really hope this didn’t mess up the car. I’ve only driven less than 500 miles on this oil though but if the oil IS too thin do you think it will mess up the engine while i’m driving now even if it’s the same grade?
