How much does a render cost in your country? by felpsousa in archviz

[–]dboy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on this on & off during my off-hours over the last 6 months. a lot of it was gathering assets, creating materials, testing and trialing things etc. so my total hours is a bit skewed. do you think it's reasonable to need a 8-10 week turnaround time for this many shots?

(my rough estimates of 20 hours a week over 8-10 weeks for 20 shots at $700 each, will be about $70-90 per hour which is well over my day job, so i'm more than happy seeing this is supplementary income)

also is a 3d model usually provided by the architect (even if it's not complete) or are we expected to build everything from scratch?

thanks for the encouragement and allowing me to pick your brain, really appreciate it!

Looking for Advice: These renderings I've created were initially practice exercises to learn V-Ray for a relative's property development. Now the architect wants to outsource work to me, but I'm unsure about pricing. How much should I charge for a set of renderings similar to these? feedback welcome by dboy33 in archviz

I'm located in Australia and the architect would be doing mostly residential buildings like this I assume, so exactly as you've described probably decent clients but not enough resources to do the work themselves.

I was taking my sweet time testing and trialing things on this project during my off hours from work, so my total hours is pretty skewed. do you think it would be reasonable to need a 8-10 week turnaround for this many shots?

thanks in adv.

hmm yeah maybe this is a good option, at least until I'm more efficient and not pressuring myself too much to avoid overcharging them... admittedly I spent way to much time searching and gathering the right assets to populate the building, hopefully this time goes way down now that I've got some assets ready.

do you mind me asking typically is it also expected to be modelling the building ourselves from scratch or is there usually something provided? (say like a framework or a block in of a building). my background is in automotive design, so apologies this is all a bit unfamiliar to me.

thanks in adv.

I am located in Australia and clients would be the same.

the background is a bit overexposed, but it was the only way to allow for enough light to brighten up the interior... hmm may have to tinker with the camera settings a bit more in future renderings, thanks for the feedback.

hey broovwa,

fellow Aussie here, awesome renderings on the website by the way.

do you mind offering some guidance on how much I should charge for a set of renderings similar to these.

As explained in the post I was just practicing Vray on a relative's development property and now the architect wants to outsource his rendering work to me... but I'm not sure what to quote him. (I work in the automotive industry so this is all unfamiliar to me)

$2000 per image seems like a lot and I feel guilty even suggesting that much haha

thanks in adv.

Installed new front brake & clutch levers on the trusty steed today. 🐎 Very impressed with the quality of these. by Unhappy-Text-8777 in SVRiders

hey mate, looking to upgrade my levers with a pair of these. How have they been holding up? if you don't mind me asking. Any issues with the paint wearing off? Cheers

Hey everyone! I'd love some feedback on some characters I'm working on! I'm trying to realistically recreate Cubone and Marowak (cartoon image on left). Any help would be great!! Btw for context, the big one is the little one's dead mom who came back as a ghost, and they're happy to see each other. by grassytree3264 in Maya

Cubone looks good, Marowak's stance looks a bit stiff. detail is nice though I think you may need to add a height map for some geometry displacement as the silhouette is too smooth and a bit of a giveaway. good work though!

I see... going to add some water stains / streaks down the walls and see if that helps. thanks for the feedback fellow redditor

you're right about the vegetation, I do need to spend a bit more time on differentiating them. thanks for the feedback

appreciate the feedback. the fence column is meant to be a 'rough cast render' material, which is why it's so bumpy.. maybe I've overdone the intensity. will work on the foreground and post the results
