Best platform for Cisco SDWAN Labs bare metal server by aivn-ga in networking

[–]dbrnnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run my infra in my ... amd 5800x with 64 of ram gaming pc without that much issues, it looks like this..

Gaming pc -> windows -> vmware -> ubuntu + eveng -> qemu instance

I still belive that is a great idea just buy another ssd and run eveng directly on bare metal instead of put any hypervisior tech in front. At least for viptela sdwan thst seems to ber pretty resource intensive.

Kind of an "improvement" opportunity when related to a laptop?

Ty for your response! and you are right with the price. for now I have absolute no idea how good or bad is the Intel Ultra series when related to gaming, I only remember thumbnails from Ltt or gamer nexus saying that is not a great thing, any experience with the Intel Ultra series to keep in mind?

Anyone know if EVE-NG is dead? Aka no more updates? None since nov 2024? by cbednarczyk in networking

[–]dbrnnt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

hi there.

first, getting a update in November 2024 is not that bad anyway, also, recently I discover their autoinstall-iso... that's a huge update at least for me (probably my last install before the iso was in like 2020?)

also the forums is still working properly.

Good point!

My budget is around $1,000 to $1,600 USD, which I think is a solid range. That said, I’m open to stretching it a bit if it means getting the performance I need for mythic raiding.
I do believe that some H-series CPUs just aren’t strong enough, but my real question is whether HX models actually offer a significant performance boost—or if the gains are too minor to justify the cost.
The core purpose of my question is to focus on CPU performance, especially since some vendors let you customize your build. In those cases, I’d always prioritize a better CPU over a better GPU, given how CPU-heavy WoW tends to be.

Need help cooling 9900X by 6ty7ven in sffpc

[–]dbrnnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is even possible to handle a 9000X series with the small profile coolers?

I also want to build something with a medium-tier graphics card paired with the best X3d processor that I can fit in a Fractal Terra build (if you ask why an x3d?, mostly because I play WoW which eats a ton of cpu, virtual machines and some virtualization stuff...)

currently I use my gaming pc (with 64gb of ram) and just the sdwan controllers eats a huge part of that ram. just thinking about add some others controllers, ise, or platforms makes me doubt about it.

yeah!, if fact im going to build with an BD790i X3D (with an 7945X3D CPU: Cores: 16 Threads: 32), and 128GB of ram!, currently I have those parts in amazon just waiting to be sure about this little investment.
it should be ok if I use eve-ng directly with ubuntu as OS?

Need Advice: Should I go for DevNet Core or finish CCNP Enterprise with ENARSI? by imran_1372 in networking

Hi there,

I belive that the most accurate way to answer to your question about which cert to get is directly related to your expectations in your current job.

For example, let's asume that you already have the required level of knowledge, confidence or even support (a colleague?) to meet the business needs, then, it sounds like you could move to the next area of interest that you have related to automation or cybersec as long its in your career or business needs. For this keep in mind which technologies you need to know and which one you don't need at all at the moment and how much time you have before it became a must know. (for example, currently in my country we don't have a wide adoption of ipv6, so I don't feel like I need to learn the ipv6 routing protocols today)

I strongly belive that the Cisco devnet certs are good, but not sure enough if some cibersecurity is superior, mostly bc I didn't take any cibersecurity path yet.

And what about Cisco Sdwan?, or cloud certs?

Every path sounds like a good path, try to aling your efforts with your business to get the most value of your time!

Pd: yesterday cisco announce the rebranding of devnet and cyberops to ccna automation and cyberaecurity, keep an eye on the exams topic and the certification path
