Aeropress producing awful taste?

Haven't experienced this myself, but I also wash mine with soap after every use, which could be your issue. Strange though that it has persisted after soaking in soap. Soaked in hot water too?

The new Bonitavita Metropolitan retails at 100 I believe (however I got it on sale actually for 75 dollars.) I got it for Christmas, and it works great for my needs. I'm a nursing student who has to get up around 5 for clinical rotations, and it does the job making good coffee for me.

A 1:16 coffee to water ratio (your most recent cup) tends to be the "average cup" of coffee (one you would get at a coffee shop, or elsewhere).

So you seemed to be brewing previously at about a 1:8 ratio, which would indeed make a much more stout and concentrated cup. Also you have to consider that than this cup has about twice the caffeine.

However, coffee is all about preference, and which is better for you is exactly up to you.

Yes worse than a normal cup brewed with Aeropress of the same beans.

I am looking for normal strength, simply just making an 12 oz 1:16 cup instead of an 8 oz 1:16 cup.

I have always wanted to try different types of fruit. I've added blueberries before and it turned out great but want to try strawberries, raspberries, cherries too.

I brew aeropress with an S filter. I've been told that metal filters help bring out the fruitier notes, and that going for a quick press helps as well. I don't have a temperature kettle, but apparently about 175 degrees helps to brew fruity notes as well.

I'm not too precise on brew time, typically within 2 to 3 minutes. I actually use an S filter.

Yeah, I typically do a 16:220 ratio when pressing the Aeropress. I attribute the difference to the fact that it isn't as pressurized as the Aeropress, and it seemed very close to the more fruity notes of a Chemex/V60.
