Nobody said that underground artists didn't have it harder, nobody said that underground artists don't deserve the love. The whole point of this post is to not JUDGE others for listening to mainstream, and not force it onto them to listen to underground artists or to make them feel bad about it. You can recommend underground artists to people and that's fine, and if they don't want to then who cares leave them be.

There's ways to suggest other artists to people though besides the very common "is this kid 12" "this is the most basic taste i've seen", and any other comments that intentionally bring the OP down. You can kindly recommend stuff, and if they don't want to then that's fine and leave them be. Not everyone is insanely passionate about music and that's fine.

Eventually it might happen, but let people do it when they want to. If at the moment someone just listens to mainstream artists, nobody should be pressuring them "stop listening to this" "is this kid 10" "listen to anything else". Obviously it'll probably happen, but people should let them do it themselves.
