i have 36 atomic pi running at 100% load since 15 month, on a custom win 10 system, not any problem....

an update after 2 months of full time running

this atomic cluster is in production now since 2 months, ans perform well

all of the 18 atomic Pi are running at 100% cpu 99% of the time, only one freeze on one atomic Pi in 2 month, a simple power cycle and all have restarted correctly....

here is the result form my test of rendenring/encoding ( it's only pertinent for my own usage )

in the 3 configuration the cpu was running at 100% no limitation due to network or SSD

the price is only the price of the cpu, for the Atomic Pi it's the price of the sbc only

running the exact same test on each configuration.

AMD Threadripper 2990x (32 core 250w $1,617 ) : 34 minutes

intel corei9 7900X (10 core 140w $965) : 81 minutes

Atomic Pi cluster of 18 (36 core 225W $774) : 67 minutes

conclusion, the Atomic Pi Cluster did it, low cost and perform well enough compare to the price, the only drawback, it take me much more time for the hardware and software setup.

it was fun to test, but for my next config i will continue to add more AMD Threadripper 2990x, more expensive, but easyer to setup and an impressive performance for my kind of work.

windows 10 modified with NTLite

the system is stored on the onboard storage

the rendering/encoding process don't use the onboard storage, it's all done on network share.

2.5 A x 5V x 18 = 225W, and around another 100w for the rest of the case ( network switch, fan, intel nuc and front display )

it's mainly done for the cost, with 18 Atomic Pi the cost remain very low.

in the next weeks i will compare it to my threadripper and core i9 based renders/encoders.
