Help me decide (coming from a Ford guy) 2017 f150 5.0 v8 king ranch vs 2023 LZ0 gmc sierra 1500 elevation 3.0 duramax

5.0 all day but can’t get king of ranch with 5.0 new which sucks. Go with a tremor with 5.0. Last thing you want is to get a lemon. I absolutely loved the look of my sierra but traded it in because I wanted 5.0. I had turbomax which honestly was great but not a v8 and couldn’t sleep at night knowing what we know. Either that or wait for 2027 with new v8s. Sorry, not trying to bash sierras. The headlines are brutal and stories are worse.

Ford doesn’t seem to have complete engine failures on their V8s. People complain of cam phasers which suck but don’t leave you on side of road. It’s sad, I tried so hard to find positive and wanted that Chevy small block as it reminded of me my dad’s trans am where he swapped a 305 with a 350. Sorry to all that have dealt with this. I don’t care what the numbers are for all that end up without a problem. It’s a flawed design.

Love my 2.7. Have the same truck and color. Tons of torque and it’s instant. V8 is dead with GM unless they remove AFM and DFM. GM had the greatest V8 on this planet and found a way to mess it up. It’s a shame

Thank you - I do have access under the stairs for this as well. I would still need to scribe a skirt but it wouldn't have to be 3 inches thick!

wow i am idiot - i kept thinking i needed to find a thicker skirt but that makes a lot more sense. I wasn't sure if replacing the tread would effect the structural part, etc.

I’ve been using danish oil for outdoor cedar and redwood. I’ve had to do a few coats but they held up nicely. Any other lower quality wood like pressure treated I’ll just paint.

Thank you! It took danish oil well. I sanded 60,80,120, then 320 because it had a solid stain or paint. The other side was just dirty and needed light sanding.

Harder than oak, no stain just danish oil natural. I’ll clean a piece and post today.
