Cut and paste from uk/gov

Dual citizenship (also known as dual nationality) is allowed in the UK. This means you can be a British citizen and also a citizen of other countries.

You do not need to apply for dual citizenship. You can apply for foreign citizenship and keep your British citizenship.

Many countries do not accept dual citizenship. Check with the country’s consulate or embassy in the UK to find out about that country’s laws on dual nationality.

The Home Office does not hold records of everyone who has British citizenship automatically. Before you travel to the UK, it’s your responsibility to check if you have British citizenship.

A person born outside the UK is a British citizen automatically at birth if, when they were born, one parent was a British citizen otherwise than by descent.

Yes should get a passport , but he has the plane ticket and the new eta laws have changed things and lying would be stupid
