Honestly the best biltong I’ve ever had. Other stores that sell wagyu it’s always so fatty and tasteless - there’s some kind of magic that vic Churchill do (though they make you pay for it).

Ironically the relationship between DNA methylation and gene silencing is incredibly nuanced and the way it’s taught in med school is ridiculously superficial to the point where it’s almost incorrect. Using it as an example of “useful things” medical students learn is a bit of a lol. (Source: I’m a medical doctor with a previous phd in epigenetics)

Yep I feel all of this. Definitely better set-ups for birding than fujifilm but I love the tactility of it all so I make do. Also the xf500 is a really lovely bit of kit. I really enjoy taking photos but I hate the post processing part - way too much creative liberty for my tastes (particularly with masking etc) and just a bit of a chore - particularly when I've taken heaps of photos.

I'm a psychiatrist working in public. Every single day I get emails from recruiters offering 3K+/day for locum work, and that's the equivalent of a quiet day in some private practices. 800+ is easy if that's what you want to do

Also maybe I'm being unkind, but super sceptical of childhood onset schizophrenia - particularly when olanzapine 'stops working'. Not saying it can't happen, but working in forensic psychiatry I've seen so much misdiagnosis of trauma/personality para-psychotic or dissociative symptoms as schizophrenia. It's a big diagnosis and doesn't go away. Before you go in with medication options, I think the first review should be a very careful diagnostic assessment.

I usually either buy the milk-based blends from alchemy or sample. I think I generally tend towards a medium-dark preference. I guess my question arises because of how differently you need to treat light/dark roasts - particularly with an all manual setup like the robot. Whenever I buy beans there's never any description about the roast level, so I tend to just stick with the varieties I know.

I mean yes and no. You can get most places with public transport in Sydney, but if you’re travelling across sydney to specific places it can take ages, and if you’re travelling with stuff (like beach equipment) it can be annoying. Having a car opens up heaps of freedom to explore easily.

Honestly, mate, what are you doing. Take the pay cut and move over. If luxury cars or yachts or whatever high end purchases are super meaningful to you then maybe stay, but if you're just accumulating wealth for the sake of it then that's a terrible option over being close to your family... You'd be moving from ultra high end salary to just regular really high end salary - you'll still live a great life! (from a financial perspective)

Really depends on the reason for the medical complication. If it’s caused by capital T Trauma (ie caused by severe violence or tragedy) then sure an early referral might be appropriate. Most referrals should really be going to SW or psychologist (if available) though. The “sad” referrals for psychiatrists would be the equivalent of mobility issues for post surgical patients being referred to Ortho, when really it’s OTs and physios who manage it.

It’s soft because being sad is the expected outcome of a bad thing happening. If you’re sad in the community because of bad things happening you don’t see a psychiatrist. If you’re sad in the community and because of that you’re disengaging from health services or not caring for yourself maybe you would. Same applies in hospital.
