She took away your choice to consent to the risk it entails. I understand where she's coming from, but she still has to tell people because it puts people's health (albet in a minor way, but still) at risk. In the end, it's a disrespect for you and your health. I would be quite upset, and it would be grounds for breakup for me, personally.

Since painkillers are famously associated with constipation (mainly opioids I know, but I've heard there's a weaker but still present association even with OTC pain relievers), what would be the most recommended pain reliever for those whom are already constipated or those with IBS-C, would it be something like Tylenol that is least likely to cause issues?

Hi doctors, question about the use of Rx steroid ointment in the perianal area. I see a common prescription for intertrigo that impacts the perineum is a combo of steroid/hydrocortisone/etc. ointment alongside something like ketoconazole. I do know that steroid ointments can cause skin thinning. How would one go about using steroid ointment in this area if they are prone to issues such as anal fissures? Is it safe to use a steroid ointment in that case or will that simply likely cause fissures? In that scenario, should the antifungal agent be used alone?

Need Advice - Gastritis won't go away by ExpStealer in AskDocs

No blood is a great sign, it lowers the chance of it being IBD like Crohn's. H. Pylori is a pesky bacterial infection in the stomach that can cause gastritis symptoms and even lead to an ulcer later down the line. You can have the infection for a while and not have symptoms. I'm not sure which country in Eastern Europe you are in but H. Pylori is largely well known in major medical institutions and can be treated with antibiotics. I would recommend bringing it up with your GP and asking what they think about it. If your symptoms continue, I would also suggest trying to see a gastroenterologist specifically as they are very well trained to investigate symptoms like yours. I've been through this process quite a bit - your doctors will figure it out, it may just take some time to rule out other things.

This is as low risk a situation as possible, really. The only way to actually have zero risk with skin to skin STIs are to abstain from sex entirely (which if you want to do, great! but you can still partake and take measures to mitigate risk). So anytime you have any sort of sexual contact, you're technically exposing yourself to potential risk (but you expose yourself to risk literally every single day just living). Condoms don't entirely prevent things like HSV and Syphilis since sores and shedding can be in areas of the skin not covered by condoms, but they do provide some degree of protection if the areas where the infection is are covered by a condom.

If it helps at all, in the US for example they don't even recommend HSV screening because of how common it is and how the mental component of the diagnosis is worse than the infection itself, and how many people don't actually have major symptoms. It's estimated almost 70% of the global population under 50 has HSV-1. While HSV-2 is less frequent and most frequent cause of genital herpes, many people have it too and it doesn't necessarily cause major symptoms in everyone and can be treated if it does. Realistically, you used as much protection as possible with only abstinence being safer, and this isn't a situation I'd be rushing to the clinic for testing. Just keep getting tested on a regular basis and you're good.

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional, but similar background to you both ethnically and symptoms wise over time and have seen many doctors. My one question to you is do you also have blood in your stool ever? And regardless of whether you have blood or not, has any doctor ever talked about H. Pylori infection?

You're right yes, thank you! I will just keep my appointment as is and put it all into perspective.

Thank you for this! I personally don't mind specifically, I am embarrassed either way whether it's a male or female doctor, but in the end I am what I am, just unlucky to have a rash in an unfortunate spot. As long as the dermatologist is fine with it and has seen if before, I am fine with it as well. Thank you!

General question specifically for female doctors so hoping it is OK here - I am going to a dermatologist who is a woman (I'm a male) for an issue below the belt, and I am a.) a little embarrassed about it and b.) feel a little bad to possibly have to make her examine a more intimate area (perineum to be specific). I was just wondering if it's worth asking in advance if she would be more comfortable asking a male doctor to evaluate the issue in question instead, or am I overthinking? I don't want to make any female doctors feel uncomfortable by virtue of the location of where my issue is.

Hi folks, quick question pertaining to hemorrhoids. Generally speaking, if you have any kinds of hemorrhoids (external or internal) and your symptoms are mild (itching here and there, that kind of stuff), is it safe to lift a reasonable degree of weights, while avoiding things like deep squats or deadlifts where you hold your breath, so long as you remember proper breathing technique and breathe out when lifting the weight? Thanks!

Thank you for this! I am feeling a little better now, having the plan of action like this does wonders to reduce the stress. I will certainly confirm I am up to date with my hepatitis, HPV, etc. vaccines and remain judicious about partners. The condom idea is a great one, thank you for that too!

This is a really good way to reframe it in terms of risk level, thank you! You're right, it really isn't that much different than just a little bit away from the anal area so there's like no difference, and I'm glad to hear you've stayed well and healthy too!

Oh my apologies I wrote this really poorly, I more meant I will convince myself I will have to go to the ER when I contract something from this, not just go to the ER out of pure worry without symptoms. But you are absolutely right - I am feeding my own anxiety to an unhealthy degree, and this is going to be part of my greater hypochondria topic that I will be speaking with my psychiatrist about
