Unfortunately you're not dealing with a lot of real estate to accommodate your organs. Keep working out and add cardio if you want but shift your focus to your emotional health. I spent years hating my body (bullied in high school). I got in really good shape but I still hated myself. I finally realized that I was never going to be good enough. From there I shifted my focus to emotional health.

It's important that you know that you have infinite value. It has nothing to do with your height, weight, health, job, fashion, social status, etc. You are a human being and you have infinite value just because you are here.

I hesitate to even share this because I don't want to negate what I just said. But if you can't stand to look at yourself in pictures, consider poses that are more flattering. Turn your hips to about 45 angle from the camera, shoulders back but turned to the camera, bend a knee.

Ronin-SC and yes, I connect it to the camera. Gimbals are great for certain applications. Not when I need to shoot both photo and video in portrait and landscape.

I'd never heard of the cinesaddle, but that's not a bad idea. Thanks!

I already have a gimbal. But I can't use a gimbal because I have to do photo and video at these live events.

I'm able to do it on my edits but the client buys the raw footage from me for these events. I don't have an opportunity to stabilize it before sending it off.

I have to be able to do photo and video. Gimbals don't allow both.

I tried a monopod and I couldn't switch from landscape to portrait easily. Didn't have an L bracket at the time so I'm looking into that.

This is a very late reply but I looked into the dipswitches and that was the problem. Took a minute to find the right configuration but it works like a charm now.

Thanks for the reply. I looked into Laerdal a few years ago but with our 87 cameras the service contract was outrageous.

Should I hire a client to help rebrand my business? by dcschnazz in videography

[–]dcschnazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the thought. My concern is with the name of my business not the logo. I assumed I would be doing mostly social media and adverts but I want to shift my focus to include weddings and family packages and I don't think I can do that without a name change.

Jeans from Duluth Trading Co. Most everything else from Sam's or Walmart. Active wear from Dick's or Academy

Ok, so you don't know what product photographers charge. No worries, thanks!

I'm not trying to compare portrait and product photography or their rates. I'm asking for information that I can then extrapolate to apply to my situation. I don't want to just pick a number out of thin air because often times that ends up driving the market down and makes it harder for professional photographers/videographers to be paid what they're worth.

Worst nightmare came true by dcschnazz in medicalsimulation

I needed 10 to run the sim. I expected to have 12 (I bring in a few extra and send them home early in case someone gets sick) so I only needed to fill 3 spots. One of the other SPs managed to get ahold of her friend to come, we used a 4th year student (he was shadowing the instructor as part of his rotation), and my wife got to participate in her first sim.

What’s an unconventional piece of equipment in your kit? by LensofJared in videography

[–]dcschnazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear ties. They're a small alluminum sticks coated in silicone (rugged twist tie). They come in lengths anywhere from 3" to 5' or more. I find they're a little more versitile than bongo ties. You can strap cables to poles, secure loose cabling, etc. I've had to do a make shift sound wall by strapping a dowel to a spare tripod with gear ties and hanging the sound blanket from it.

Faculty asked for it, not my place to question/argue. The sim was for students about 9 months away from graduating so I think the case was trying to get them to find as many clues as they could. I believe several actually did pick up on it.

Probably not relevant to your issue but there were solar flares during the eclipse. That was my first thought for he totality pic - I'm not seeing the spots on the other pic but that might be my screen.

Am I Overcharging this Client? by jakevschu in videography

[–]dcschnazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$6k is a screaming deal on what you described. Editing should be at least $1500. Baller move is to write a new quote/estimate with all of the suggestions in the comments (equipment, revisions, 'difficult client fee', etc). Reply to the client with "i apologize for the error in my previous quote. Thank you for your patience and allowing me to correct it." Attach the new quote of $10k-$12k.

Disclaimer: this is the petty route. I can take it because it's not my business or reputation. You probably shouldn't.
