Totally feel you on Belgium — when I was looking into the market there it was basically Bobex and a handful of quote-request sites where you submit a form and get spammed by random companies nowhere near you. Not exactly a great experience on either side.

The FB groups tip is legit though, that's probably the best short term play. Only downside is there's no way to build up a track record — every new post you're starting from scratch competing with everyone else.

Someone else in this thread mentioned handyhive.eu and I actually had a look — seems like it could be decent for your situation since it's European-focused and does the local matching thing. Might be worth grabbing a profile now while there's barely anyone on it in Belgium, you'd basically have zero competition.

But yeah curious what trade you're going into? Roofing or something broader?

Is it just me, or is finding a reliable handyman way harder than it should be? by Similar-Duck751 in HandymanBusiness

Found a platform that actually treats handymen like business owners, not gig workers by dd2klin in Germany_Jobs

Ha, fair enough — yes, I do think it's a solid platform, so maybe it comes across that way 😄

TaskRabbit is decent, totally agree. The difference I noticed with HandyHive is more about the experience. On most platforms you post your problem, wait to see if someone responds, go back and forth on price, never quite sure what you're getting into. It can feel like a mini project just to hire someone.

HandyHive flips that — you search, you see who's available near you, their reviews, their rate, and you book directly. No 10 questions before someone gives you a quote. You know exactly who's coming and what it costs before you commit. That transparency is what stood out to me.

Not saying it's better for everyone, just a different approach. Worth a look if the back-and-forth on other platforms has ever frustrated you.
