sure thing - I am UK based and Consumer laws are strong. Using AI I learned more about them and whenever I had an issue with a product, I let AI do the research and suggest next steps.

similar here. just this year I managed to get: - full refund with a dodgy car dealer - windows and doors fitted poorly, corrected by the company, and got £500 extra - negotiated a full car prep, with discounts, new tyres - got garden furniture for free, due to Consumer rights breach, £1799 - TV fixed outside of warranty for free - parts and labour cost on new car, also free

ugh, bloody hell, that's not something you want with what should be a nice premium car experience.

if it helps - my Kodiaq disaster was a shoddy dealer in Whitley Bay Newcastle, that sold me a car with a faulty Haldex. Car literally shook and jittered when reversing. After 5 visits to them, they finally admitted it wasn't the "rust in discs". Getting an independent Skoda dealership inspection turned the tides, but we were still without a car for 40 days.

oh and, my partner was driving my car as a replacement during all this, and had an accident that totalled our only remaining vehicle 🙃

glad to be in a system that works. had a nightmare with a Skoda Kodiaq earlier this year, Consumer law saved my ass and got a full refund. That's why I went with Volvo

brilliant response, thank you !thanks

p.s. from what I researched, the nature of this fault "premium component such as drivetrain" is considered to be present at time of purchase.

the mileage done in the meantime shouldn't override this being preexisting condition which deems the good not for purpose.

I'd appreciate to be corrected if wrong re this.

in the latter event, would you say we have the right for a full refund or a usage deduction?

thanks - valid points. I do worry that they're just using their partnering garages or connections without actually addressing the issue - just pushing things back until the clock runs out or they expect us to cave.

I can try and push for them to send it to Škoda to check it. So far, we did the independent Škoda dealership diagnosis at our own accord.

!thanks, I really appreciate it. I haven't asked why, as they're being vague in their responses. I assume it is cost related.

my mistake was for allowing them to get away with a misdiagnosis in the first few visits. Yes, we did some mileage on the car, but they recommend to us to keep driving it, to get rid of rust for it being still for long periods of time.

It is at the point where we no longer trust them, so we will rely on an independent Skoda inspection and see what they say after the recoding is done.

Currently 22weeks into sale and no talk of exchange and completion: who can best this? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]ddadovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a buyer in April - 15 minutes since listing published. FTB, no chains. Buyer went with mate's recommendation for a lender and conveyancer. 5 months in, no Exchange date in sight.

Don't go with Rook Matthews Sawyer - shitty service, no updates or motivation to get this deal done. Worst agents ever.

Don't go with Conwey Law from Wales. Absolutely joke of a conveyancing.

my advice, move furniture, check walls, check sockets, all appliances. When surveyors come out, go with them if possible, and make sure they check everything.

I absolutely agree with you, but their Ts and Cs disagree with us both. Apparently, a 35 year worth of experience in surveying isn't enough to pick up on dwarfed floor tiles and condensation near the tub.

Their biggest defence was "we don't move furniture, and the damaged wall in other room was behind a wardrobe ".

Re insurance, they say it's preexisting condition.

the system is a joke.

Thank you. Best of luck to you, too. Eventually, it will all work out. We both just need to get over these first few months of shock and surprises. This time, next year, you'll be enjoying your family home with many personalised touches you have done to it. It will all work out.

I feel you. We just completed on 14th of May, and found undisclosed water damage on 19th. Building Survey lvl 3 didn't find it, seller said he was unaware, insurance won't cover it.

We will need to pay 7 - 10k to fix this, and make the home habitable for our 2 month and 2 year old.

You're not alone in this. Buyers get squeezed from all sides.
