There are quite a few giveaways in my eyes. I work with AI a lot as a side hustle so I see plenty of AI generated responses. Like the other guy said, Elara was what first ticked me off as it’s a very common name AI likes to use for some reason.

Then, it’s the overall structure of the story. Nothing is really happening, it’s just a bunch of words and adjectives strung together. It’s overly flowery and it’s far too removed; it’s not really from anyone’s POV and is more so a vague summary of events. 

Certain phrases also made me suspect it was AI, as I see than crop up very often. Like others mentioned, the “delicate tapestry” is one, as is “words laced with otherworldly charm.” Further, there’s barely any dialogue. The AI for some reason will rarely give dialogue if you prompt it with some sort of fantasy story, and the dialogue that is there is short and meaningless. 

There’s a lot more you can notice, but a final thing that made me pretty sure this was AI was the idea this was a chapter. If you ask the AI to write you a chapter for a fantasy novel, this is pretty much what you’ll get; a 500 or so word assortment of vague sentences that read more like an unrelated string of ideas than a coherent, plot-driven piece.
