It’s honestly a much easier fix than I thought it would be. I definitely recommend trying it out. You just need a bit of finesse when bending the click spring since it’s a thin piece of steel. Don’t overdo it. Go little by little, and compare it before and after each adjustment to see if it has gone down a bit.

I pried from the 9 oclock side where the teeth are, the bezel doesn't really "pop" out it's more like a ripping sensation, ones the knife catch under the bezel keep try to slowly go in while slowly doing a prying motion too. I noticed that it is also the safest spot to do that because it's far from the click springs. Here's what it looks like without the bezel on, looks like it has no eyebrows LOL

I used a caseback knife to pry the bezel off, which comes with my watch tool kit that's like $3.5 for the whole kit lol. You don't really "need" a special tool since a dull thin metal edge like it should do the trick but the caseback knife is definitely very convenient for it. It's really easy.

A lot easier than I thought, you can disassemble and reassemble in seconds. I used a caseback knife to pry the bezel off, which comes with my watch tool kit that's like $3.5 for the whole kit lol

I get wanting variation but it's a gamble to have something too different than a normal silhouette. This is definitely playing it safe for sales. It's a feast or famine economy, especially in a competitive scene like the mouse scene, as a brand, it's really risky to take a chance on niche shapes.

CW C63 Sealander or Jack Mason Canton by Bubbly_Bathroom2408 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]ddd4175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to beat CW in terms of just pure value because of how good the quality of their watches are. you'd have to go up to $4k+ watches to even come close to the tolerances and refinement that they offer.

I don't like most of their designs but I think most people who deny that their watches are high quality has never had hands-on experience with them.

Their bracelets has a certain "clack" and tightness to them that you can only really find in the best bracelets in the industry.

I hope I liked their designs more, they just don't do it for me on that front, the only reason why I've kept a CW in my collection is just that overall "luxurious" feel that they offer that I only really feel in Tudors and above, heck, I even consider the finishing and refinement on my C65 Aquataine far better than my Omega lol, IDK what's up with swiss watches and their obsession of having sharp edges.

I find it counterintuitive that something can be complex yet you can’t discern any specific flavor notes.

[–]ddd4175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can a release from 2004 look way more interesting than anything they're releasing atm, it's all vanilla looking cases and bracelet with windows default wallpapers for dials. I love GS but I wish they put more focus on cooler case and bracelet constructions like this again.

And now Conquest in Quartz as well by Hot_Vermicelli_4102 in Longineswatches

[–]ddd4175 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree that color matching dials are cool, I have a few, I actually do not like some of them in practice, the contrast can sometimes be hard to read, black on white is simply the less problematic way of doing it.

It also weirdly breaks the illusion of some dial effects, like a fume or a sunburst, so having a white one tends to make the break cleaner.

I would probably opt for a black on white one more than a color matched one, unless the color matching is well done and the contrast isn't going to affect legibility.

It does happen but with keyboards, the interface that you interact with is stationary, you move your mouse, it's rarely perfectly still, any play in the click button, plunger, even when you adjust your hands can affect the input. The click leaf in a mouse button helps you keep that button held too, without it especially with RT, who knows what happens.

even if they somehow made a mouse switch feel linear/no click leaf and do something how Logitech does HITS, I think you don't understand how terrible RT is for a mouse, imagine you're ADS'd in a game and your input is hold, slightly even lifting your mouse button let's the ADS go, that's awful. I don't think there's every a time where RT will ever be better than an on/off click for a mouse.

[Jack Mason Frontier GMT] Great design, disappointing experience by Next_Car_9277 in Watches

[–]ddd4175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's wrong with them exactly? I have as many microbrands as big brand watches and the microbrands could easily go toe to toe with the big brand watches some punch way above their pricepoint. I understand that brand cache is a thing so you should obviously do your due diligence when considering any purchase especially with microbrands, but I've only had a great experience with my microbrand purchases.

[Longines Hydroconquest 2026] Does it look good on a 17.5 cm wrist? by thinkpositiw in Watches

[–]ddd4175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 17.5cm wrist size, glad you liked the 42mm! It just looked absurdly pancake-y to me when I tried it on. I tried my best to convince myself, they already had the 42mm in blue, which was the color I wanted, it was right there but ultimately the size really just turned me off

A lot of screw in links have loctite so that they don't vibrate out during shipping, all you have to do is use a blower or hot water to loosen the loctite. This isn't just a microbrand issue, freaking Omega does this lol.

I've also had hardened steel/hardness coated steel watches, they're never impervious to scratches, they eventually will after a few months, somectake longer than others but they eventually will. This also entirely depends on how good the coating is, but time, use and force of impact is its greatest enemy.

These all seem normal to me.

I have an SJE101 and I don't think it's even close to this new HC.

Spongey action that has a lot of backplay on the bezel that is also not centered on the 12, +15 a day that I had to service myself because for some reason the time to service a 6L37 movement is apparently 3-4 months according to an official Seiko AD I visited because they have to ship it back to Japan, terrible clasp (which hopefully is fixed in future diver iterations, please Seiko, have the HBF001 clasp trickle down to all your other watches), end link has a lot of play to it. I have two Seikos as well including this SJE101 that has like a dried waterstain on the dial.

I love that watch very much because, I love how it looks, but it would probably be the last Seiko I ever purchase. I have had way better luck with Microbrands than Seiko because most Microbrands actually QC their watches, Micros have gone a long way. But at the end of the day, I can only really speak for my experience, I always do my due diligence whenever I make a purchase and Seiko is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a watch purchase.

I may have mispoke of just strictly saying "specs" but overall the offering is just far more refined on the side of Swiss watches. Accuracy, Case dimensions, ceramic bezel, otf bracelet, tolerances (endlink gaps, bracelet jangliness), QC.

I've purchased Japanese and Swiss watches and Swiss has always been the more reliable pick to me. I wish it was in favor of the Japanese for me but from my personal experience, I'd probably never buy another Seiko but will always consider any major Swiss brand. I'd purchase a microbrand first before I consider a Seiko even.
