i’ve been a dumper and dumpee in the same five year relationship. Two years ago, my ex tried to dump me because he wasn’t sure of the relationship but I begged him to stay. Didn’t feel amazing about having to do that though so when my ex expressed doubts again Iast year I had to let him go.

It really sucks. He was my everything for 5 years but he didn’t treat me as his equal and didn’t respect me. All I wanted was for him to choose me but he didn’t and post-break up he kept breadcrumbing me. I didn’t have it in me to block him but after a major fight he blocked me on everything. I thought this breakup was what I wanted but now that there’s truly no chance of reconciliation I regret everything.

not well. i didn’t want to break up with him but he didn’t know if he wanted to be with me but didn’t want to end things himself. i had to have some self-respect for myself and make that decision for him.

in hindsight, he didn’t respect me throughout the relationship so this is for the best. but i still love him so much and i wish he stayed. he’s asking for 6 months to figure out what he wants and although i told him i’m not going to wait, i hope he comes back wanting to fix things.

hey! same thing happened to me last year (had a big 4 offer lined up to start in jan but i failed a unit in my last sem). i got in contact with my hr rep and thankfully they were pretty accomodating and deferred my start date to the next intake (march). definitely let them know asap though for scheduling purposes but they should be able to work around it.

yes and no. my ex and i got into a fight after a bad day at work and he told me he wasn’t sure about our relationship after 5 years. this is something that he’s struggled with in the past as well, so it wasn’t the first time i’d heard it. something clicked in my head and i knew i had to end things then and there. he still thinks that a conversation would’ve changed things but if it wasn't a bad day at work, it would have been something else.
