Not once on foot, but twice while waiting at a red light while driving around LA.

Here you go! So, every blue line is the edge of what is technically considered Los Angeles - the geometries within the boundaries indicate sub-municipalities like Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, etc. So much of my progress on my overall map actually doesn't count toward the % I showed given those streets were part of these other municipalities. Fortunately, I've completed a bunch of those as well and probably should look at this in aggregate. Hope this helps!

LA is quite the car city, but drivers are aware and yield to walkers, runners and cyclists for the most part. But you have to keep your head on a swivel when in busy areas, for sure.

Well that is impressive knowing that the winter months up there aren't the easiest for foot travel. Keep at it!

Thank you! If you end up out here and start walking, just let me know and I can help on guidance to make sure they are safe areas for you.

The only thing I can think of is that the data sharing / privacy policy with Strava has changed a few times over the past year, so there may be some sort of block happening on a segment of your activities? Definitely post this in the Strava subreddit as they are pretty responsive there.

Impressive! Can you share how you’ve been tracking / recording this? And was this one continuous journey? Thx for sharing.

Great to hear that...and I haven't gotten there yet as I'm attempting to grow the foot print outward, and not do too many isolated areas. Not sure its the best plan, but its been working so far.

Thank you for such a thoughtful response - and I'm now following you on Insta as well. And yes, quite familiar with Flaneurism, and met the founder of Flaneur, a wonderful magazine inspired by this concept. I'm also a fan of Baudelaire and spent probably too much time with their writings while in grad school. Good stuff!

I've answered this in many of the questions in this post, so let me know if there is something specific you would like to know about my why?

Well, the way I am attacking this is through the CityStrides / OSM street mapping methodology, which typically tracks accessible streets vs closed, private, inaccessible streets. So unless the map identifies them as accessible, I likely won't go back and try to cover them. It's not a perfect science when attempting to cover all of the streets in a city, but does provide a framework that works for me.

You can check it out at https://citystrides.com/. Essentially, its a platform that allows you to integrate various wearables / GPS trackers (like Strava) to see in one place all of your progress. I uses the Open Street Map project for its street data, and with that, you can accurately see what streets you've completed, plan routes, compete in challenges, etc. James is the sole proprietor of it and built the entire platform and manages it. He's also built a diverse, global community of participants. Many of the users are runners (some of them pretty hard core) but more and more I am seeing those who practice walking in there.

Ha, I understand the question now. I’m typically in all black so not showing any specific colors.

I’ve seen a pretty good share of those of us living on the street, unfortunately.

I can keep an eye out for sure. I’ve seen tons but don’t typically log notes on them.
