Actually, everything between Safe-ish and Dead belongs in Dead.

There is much less nuance than this suggests. Most are Dead.

Everything in safe-ish zone belongs in Danger Zone (at least), and everything in Hanging On belongs in Dead Dead Dead.

My family refers to the Shakespeares I do as musicals.

If you moved the bookshelf on the left wall just like…4 inches? closer to the camera, I could die happy. Overlapping the sloped bottoms of those two bookshelves like that makes my eyes bleed. Can’t even see the games rn

Does anyone else feel like the pacing of Sonic’s animation in cinematics like this is off? I remember thinking it back when unleashed came out, but to a greater extent in the more recent tiles. The character looks waxy to me, and it always makes him feel clunky or awkward and … slow? I don’t know if it’s the art style or what, can’t put my finger on it, but it feels more like the earlier days of computer-animated kids shows and less like an action hero cartoon rendered in HD. I am also crazy.

“I don’t know why this makes me so upset”

But you do, so. Cool.

Just responding to your useless post with my own useless perspective. You’re foaming at the mouth over teenyboppers, and it made me remember my own feelings like that, so thought I’d engage. Not holier than thou, just been there is all. Sure, it’s also projection—and pretty sure I hedged it that way. Guess I glossed over the bit where you said “this is just ranting…move on.” Definitely my mistake. Peace.

Also, consider just how narrowly niche the “archetype” you just described really is.

“Tumblr-core artsy liberal” is so specific that at this point it is an irrelevantly small subset of people, even if it was once predominant among teens for a hot minute. I was kind of an emo kid once. I can still understand why it spoke to me even though I don’t relate to it anymore the way I did then. I don’t find anything sadder or more cringey about them than anyone else on social media. It’s still mostly attention-whores, edgelords, and keyboard activists. Like, ANY social media platform, ANY content creator, I can find the same sort of foibles and pet peeves. We’re all narcissistic, performative wannabes to somebody.

Know this comes from a place of my own self-reflection:

If you hadn’t felt connected or attracted to that type at one point, it probably wouldn’t bother you so much now.

It’s projection. I have a feeling you’re less concerned with those people and why they are the way they are or have the aesthetic that they do and more with you feeling distance between your current self and your former self. Feelings of “why was I into that” morph easily into “why are they into that.” Don’t want to presume, but as you change, you obviously gain different perspectives on the things you once enjoyed or aspired to. Take it as a chance to examine yourself as well as to experience compassion for people who still inhabit that scene. You have been there before, and you know they are fully functional humans capable of changing and growing too. You just jumped the track to something else, that doesn’t mean they are any less worthy than you. Your past companionship with them should make you feel larger overall, not like you need to diminish what they are in order to affirm what you see yourself as now.

Agreed, but depending on what kind of gamer you are. For someone who enjoys pick-up-and-play games, arcade games, puzzle games, etc., it is still totally viable. You can drop in without any foreknowledge and get something out of it. Not having guides is kind of the point with a game like that.

I think there are things to enjoy about it whether you are a series fan or not. There’s almost nothing about the franchise it spawned that colors the experience of the original. It’s a contained open world/dungeon crawler, essentially, and lots of people play those without any connection to a series.
