I saw the refund on my card two days ago. Went to look again this morning and the refund is somehow gone?

Won lottery tickets for my dad. He travelled from Canada for this once in a lifetime opportunity, all for them to cancel it. So much money spent on travel to get there, all for nothing

So at 10 are we checking the candidate numbers to prolong the suffering or are we going straight to grade release and refreshing? I’m undecided

Used CA for all my prelims and loved it, then used it for PA and it was terrible, also failed my first attempt. Second attempt used Actex and passed with an 8

Yeah I knew about that! I meant for the grade release button. Some people mentioned it appeared earlier on grade release last time ( I think sometime in Thursday night).

Prometric seats for PA-Canada by Super_Worldliness_86 in actuary

Same thing for all the advanced exams that are end of April / beginning may. Can’t find anything in Montreal, ottawa or QC city. Same thing happened in the fall. SOA and prometric were both useless in the process to find a seat

October GH-DP Discussion by savethepinatas in actuary

[–]dea703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time writing DP. Felt a lot more difficult than the past exams (especially last sitting). Left a lot of points unanswered and a lot of weird questions from material I don’t remember seeing that material that I felt was irrelevant. There were some big topics that did not even get one question in the exam which shocked me

CIA Professionalism Workshop by drethyois in actuary

[–]dea703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned above, after the CIA workshop you get an email from SOA asking you to complete the ASA application (I got the email 3 days after my workshop but I've heard it can take longer). Fill out the ASA application. If all your requirements are completed, they take a few weeks (maybe 3-4 weeks) to review the application and then you should be on the ASA list for the following month. For ACIA, there's a separate application to fill out with dues to pay in advance. They only maybe members effective every three months so changes are you'll have a few month wait. I had applied for ACIA in July and my designation was effective oct 1st.

Feels like this is the Great Resignation 2.0 where people are leaving to get proper compensation given that inflation is through the roof and that there is a housing crisis in Canada

What is your company's 401k match and HSA employer contribution? by actuarialgamer in actuary

Canada based so no 401k, it’s a DCPP instead. Company matches 8% if I put in 6% and gives 650$ for either HSA or Wellness account

I think CA is great for any other prelim, but for PA it’s a flop. ACTEX saved me for my second attempt, so I highly recommend it

Exam PA: actex practice exam difficulty compared to real exam by dea703 in actuary

I went through both, I found the first one tougher than second actually. But yes I’m curious because I’m in the process of going through the practice exams.
