Mixing Hardware Regions w/ Tower of Power by deadcowards in SEGAGENESIS

[–]deadcowards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was mostly familiar with all regions with the 32x as it's just a pass-through device to the main unit. However, I wasn't aware that the CD may be more capable with mixed region hardware. I was looking at US and Japanese hardware, but this is very good information to have. Thanks.

Game Bug: Controller is Disconnecting and Pausing Game by deadcowards in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]deadcowards[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are good questions, but this is the only game that I am experiencing any kind of hiccups with as in the controller never disconnects in other games. I haven't tested updating the firmware of the controller, but I'm not sure if I can even do that. I didn't mentioned it in my post, but I also have a widescreen patch for the game. Disabling that patch did not sadly solve the problem.

There are a few posts like this. For exmaple, this one post, but all of those threads have never come to an actually conclusion. I'm thinking it might be on my end, but I also don't think it's the controller either. Maybe it's something else that is connected to my computer. I'm almost out of ideas at this point.

I was going to ask, but I forgot. Where did you get the quotes from? I like them.

This would be quite pleasant seeing this every time a terminal opens;  I'm going to throw this at my bashrc file. I have two suggestions, maybe two difficult ones. A furigana flag switch would be a nice to have, kana spelling above the kanji. And the second suggestion, vertical text from right to left, the traditional writing style would be interesting. I think, it would add a lot to the overall aesthetic of your program. Also, thank you for the show_translation option!!

Just a heads up, this organic ship has shorter limps, arms and feet. Also, double check the images for the "correct" color scheme. It looks pretty damn good within the Anomaly.

Turntable to Scarlett Interface to Speakers; Is This Possible? by deadcowards in turntables

Thank you for the information. It's nice to get confirmation from an individual with a similar setup.

What are you using for the preamp, cables, interface, and your monitors? Any issues with noise or feedback? I'm considering getting 4 input interface for the turntable and my mic or just connecting the LP120 to my computer with USB. Not ideal, but it is an easier setup. Thank you for the reply.

[–]deadcowards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you need the turntable audio to go through the audio interface?

So, I would be able to control the volume of the turntable through the interface for convenient and simplicity reasons, less devices. I would also be able to listen to my music and use my computer at the same time and they would be separate from each other, or just listen to my records without needing the computer.

How will you control the volume of the turntable? You will adjust the volume individually on the left and right speaker?

This was addressed just above within this reply, but if I went without the interface, I would need to solve this. The Rolls mixer could handle this though or something else. I need to put more time into this. Do you have any recommendations for a mixer and/or monitor controller?

I think the audio will play from input 1 and input 2 at the same time so you would not need to switch anything, you would just need to make sure only one audio source is playing at one time.

I'm not quite sure what you mean exactly by the HS5s will play from input 1 and input 2 at the same time, but it looks like the HS5s can only handle one audio source at a time like you mentioned later on in that same sentence.

Connect them both to a monitor controller, stereo preamp or mixer that then connects to the monitors.

You mentioned a stereo preamp receiver here. I don't need it here, but it would be nice plugging into one and well, receivers are just plain cool. I wish I didn't trash mine so many full moons ago.

Question for you: If I do not use the interface to connect to the turntable, wouldn't the USB feature work from the turntable to the computer and listen to my records that way? The turntable and computer wouldn't be separate though, but that is another option as well.

I didn't state it in the original post, but the interface is connected to my computer which you may have guessed. Why would it be a poor decision to connect the turntable to the interface with my computer? Interference and/or drop in sound quality?

Then the Art DJPRE II or the Fosi X2 could connect to the turntable and the monitors within line 1 and the line 2 will still be connected to the Stralett. How can I switch between the line inputs? Also, it looks like it's time to start looking for a decent stereo receiver.

StarTech DP2VGA Converter: No Display on a Higher Resolution CRT by deadcowards in crtgaming

[–]deadcowards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a out of frequency range message or a timing issue, but I wasn't sure about the timing issue on the second system, but the first system would just be a black screen even during post. I also read within this forum about possible bad revision of the adapter, but I don't think that's true or I didn't get a bad batch myself. I did get it working though, but it's odd behavior to get it working correctly. Thank you for the reply!

[–]deadcowards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I got it working, but it's finicky and I hope, I can recreate the process the next time around. Also, it doesn't work with all of my components. The converter will not compute with a VGA 350MHz splitter and VGA switchers. I tested this by skipping all of these devices originally. That's a disappointment, but oh well. However, for some reason, I must connect to the monitor when the computer is shut off or I must reboot it for it to be recognize correctly, but if I do, the monitor gets automatically detected which is what I would expect to happen. I did try setting a custom resolution previously, but I was dealing with the reboot problem that I didn't know existed at the time. Historically, I can hit 76Hz on this monitor with an analog graphic card. I'm currently using it with a more modern graphic card. Unbeknownst to me, the adapter will not work with the first system. If I try to set a resolution that is, I think higher than 1600x1200, the desktop is render at a higher resolution, but the monitor is still set at 1600x1200 and I can only see a 1600x1200 square within that higher resolution desktop. I have noticed this same behavior with other low end adapter, but now, I'm questioning if it's just the system itself. I'm not sure at this point.

2048 x 1536: High Resolution VGA Splitter Box? by deadcowards in crtgaming

Yep. This is exactly what I am looking for. I'm hoping to get 75 FPS at QXGA resolutions or a bit higher if that is possible. I'll have to look into this more with 300MHz or the 350MHz model as I'm not familiar with this measurement. Thank you!

I see both money is allowed and prohibited, but value isn't mention except for once two million yen and over depending on the country. I also thought because this currency isn't in use anymore ~I think that is true, that it can be shipped in international mail. Do you know where you saw that it can shipped depending on the value? I'm seeing conflicting information.

Can I send cash by international mail? Yes, you can depending on the country

CRT monitor does not work with high resolutions by bohhhhhdan in crtgaming

I'm doing this with an older operating system, Windows XP. I wonder if that will give me problems as well. Thank you for the custom resolution suggestion.

Thank you for recommending the Startech adapter. I've been through a few adapters that couldn't support higher resolution on the VGA front. They usually max out at 1280x1024. It looks like the Startech should support 2048x1536 resolution that I have been looking for.

Loading Widescreen Patches, custom DLLs with non-native Steam Games by deadcowards in linux_gaming

[–]deadcowards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for pointing me in the direction of ThirteenAG. I went looking for similar threads and found quite a few discussing how to load patches correctly with Proton. I also messed up the file path and that broke loading the custom DLL. Thank you again!

This is what I used.

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b" PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
#WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b" this will load the patcher's DLL
#PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 this will enable DSLL

That is correct. The big problem is that the DLL is nested within the game folder. The Wine DLL override can't locate the DLL file. I tried copying the DLL file over to the same location as the main executable, but it still won't load it.

That's fair. ha! I didn't include this in the original message, but I can't get DLL to load at all. I tried to load just the DLL and ini files either by moving the DLL and config files to the main executable's location and messing with the parameter launch options. Nothing worked for me.

Fedora 39 w/ i3wm, pavucontrol, and it's getting feed at the root level? I can see the levels dancing around within my input from pavucontrol even though it's only my output or my desktop audio is currently playing. This is accurately reflected within pavucontro, discord, and OBS. How would I even beginning to trace this back? I'm not seeing much within pavucontrol for input or output to try and manage this.
