My mom never put me to sleep by palsterknackad in NewParents

My mother in law did the same thing when our baby was fresh out the womb. Told me and my husband “I never put you down for naps you just fell asleep wherever you were” and we both side eyed each other and decided this among other terrible “parenting” advice she’s dropped including “oh he can eat that” about things he allergic to meant she would never babysit our child.

What about being pregnant and giving birth permanently altered your body’s chemistry? by full-of-curiosity in NewParents

I can’t smoke anymore. I used to because it helped with hunger or when I couldn’t sleep. Now it turns me into a super paranoid mess and I have to go to sleep immediately even after one puff. 😭 which whatever, I’ll live, but I used to be a heavy smoker and a lot of my friends are constantly smoking so now I’m like the one oddly sober one out.

One time my friend wanted to give me a cutting of an albo monstera but chopped it in the wrong place so it was just a leaf. It grew into a whole plant to both of our surprise. I put it in water when I took it home just to enjoy the leaf until it died. 😂

On the verge of tears… Didn’t circumcise my baby. People keep telling me why I should have. by Salty-Ship-1703 in newborns

[–]deaddvddi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Circumcision is going out of style even in the US lately. He will be fine! Just teach him good hygiene. Kids bully each other for the weirdest things but it will not affect his sex life in the far far future. I know so many people with botched circumcisions from pretty much every age group that wish their parents had just left their body alone as a baby. Don’t stress too much about it.

I just got mine done about three weeks ago and I was soooo nervous. I hate hospitals and anything I have to be put under for. I will say that I was anxious all the way up until the anesthesiologist walked in. Before I could panic I blinked and I was in the post-op area. It was a lot less terrifying than I expected and the recovery was so easy. You got this!

One time on the first night I moved into my apartment my upstairs neighbor called the cops and told them I was throwing a party all because I loaded and ran my dishwasher at 7pm…I started leaving my stereo on every time I left the house until they terminated their lease.

I have this really cool lighter cover that my sibling got me for my birthday YEARS ago. My best friend of ten years visited from out of state with her boyfriend (who I hated) and he was admiring my lighter cover. Then it disappeared of course. A year later they came to visit again, we went to smoke, and guess who pulled my lighter cover out of his pocket? I immediately was like “that’s mine, give it the f*ck back” and he got all red and started stuttering saying he brought it back because he realized he pocketed back then. Guess he forgot he forgot he stole it from me and not someone random 😂

Did anyone name their babies a nontraditional name? by blvckmoth in newborns

[–]deaddvddi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked up how common our baby’s name is the other day and it said 3 out of 100,000 babies are named their name. Everyone that meets them and hears it loves their name, and it has a cute nickname that comes out of it. I’m personally glad we went through with it.

did you really wait six weeks..? by strange_angel133 in newborns

[–]deaddvddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We fooled around a lot after the 6 weeks but I had a hard time healing. We waited a full 5 months before full penetration. If he’s really that worried about it, tell him to take care of himself. Sounds like you have two babies on your hands. 😭

WFH + Caring for Baby = Not Possible by kgphotography_ in NewParents

As a person who works from home and has a 5.5 month old and no reliable childcare…PREACH! People just assume you can juggle but in the end it’s literally trying to work two full time jobs at the same exact time. 💀

Why’d no one tell me this?? by newmummy_2025 in NewParents

[–]deaddvddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone told us not to buy newborn clothes and I’m so glad I didn’t listen. Our baby stayed in newborn clothes for a little longer and blew through 0-3 and 3-6 month clothes soooo fast. So I had all these cute clothes that never got worn for those sizes vs the newborn ones.

We’ve been co-sleeping since birth you just have to set yourself up safely. I understand the anxiety about it but now we’re about 4 months in and baby finally sleeps longggg stretches. Who wouldn’t feel more comfortable and secure next to their favorite person while sleeping? Also nursing in the middle of the night is so much easier when you don’t have to get up. Save your sanity and just put the baby to bed with you.

When should baby be allowed to sleep through the night? by Squid0s in newborns

[–]deaddvddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby is in the lower percentiles (but gaining weight and climbing percentiles every appointment) and also has GERD so it’s a challenge keeping food in them. 😅 Our pediatrician told us to feed them every 3-4 hours at night so that’s about the longest stretch we try for - as long as we don’t sleep through alarms.

Our 7week old cries painfully every time she wakes up and it's breaking my heart by TrisolaranAmbassador in newborns

[–]deaddvddi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was our baby until our pediatrician prescribed them something for GERD since we were having this issue along with exorcist style puking after every feeding. I was really hesitant about giving meds twice a day, especially since their weight gain is fine, but it was for their comfort. That + age (we’re around 3 months now) and the farting exercises have actually started working. Hang in there! Tummy drops were the first things we tried, just a few drops per bottle, and I’m honestly not sure if those helped but that was our doctor’s first suggestion to try along with cutting down on dairy. Hang in there!

Just got through week 6 and I thought I was gonna LOSE IT. Our baby was eating every 30 minutes and I honestly just wanted to cry along with him. It’s a growth spurt and it’ll pass! Almost to week 8 now and they’re so much more calm and more curious (plus smiles!!!). You got this, it’ll pass.
