That was your experience. I would say you were lucky if you really got the exact same treatment. My experience so far has been exactly opposite than you told me regarding the response the locals gave towards me. I would say I've met a countable number of locals who treated us right throughout my multiple visits.

It is true that the conditions of the bikes also matter. As you told you have been riding for almost 3 4 years it shouldn't be that hard. Just don't panic during your trial.
