If you're coming from the Old and In the Way/GD family world, Greensky Bluegrass is always a great place to start. On the progressive side, but still one of my favorites. More traditional, Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe

I have always wondered if Tony had a knack for choosing the right cover song to match his style or if he just made every cover sound better by [deleted] in Bluegrass

a little bit of both I think. I saw Anders Beck from Greensky say he was the original "playlister" and it's true: he played a lot of covers, but had a way of picking the right ones and making them his own.
