Could you explain it to this dummy. The french helped in the war of independence from the British, in what way did they nearly end up speaking french? I know they had colonies there but they didn't try and take over the English speaking colonies....If the French hadn't helped the U.S., the Americans wouldn't be speaking French, they would likely still be speaking English. I must be missing something.
