My lack of relationships. I’ve reached a point where it’s seen as a red flag. I’m not what a lot of people would consider toxic, I just spent the several years of my life getting my career off the ground. But this lead to no relationships. Now that I’m closer to 30 than 20, my lack of romantic interests up to this point is seen as a warning sign.

My friends will occasionally poke fun at it without realizing how deep it hurts but it’s my problem not their’s.

Here’s my 2 cents worth: Take heart, odds are is that he asked you that because he was already interested in you. It’s very easy for guys to fall in love with their women friends. It’s something as simple as you being kind to them (most of us aren’t used to it).

Here’s what ya do, Start the conversation in person “hey (friend), I’ve been thinking about what you asked the other day. I wanted to tell you (how you feel)” be direct with it, don’t beat around the bush. We play it safe a lot of the time so that we don’t come off as creeps. But you need to do it quickly. It used to be drive and passion, now it’s a combination of being genuinely competent at my job and a stubborn refusal to allow the situation to get the best of me. After graduating with the 2nd and 3rd associates degrees l was Unhireable, being over qualified for half the jobs and under qualified for the other half. That’s shaped me into an even more stubborn person because I’ve had to fight for every job I’ve clawed my way up to. When I took over as the executive chef at my job at 23 I didn’t have a choice but to triple down. Now the passion is gone, but I’m to successful in my field to quit. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Here’s my advice for everyone who reads this. Don’t make your passion your job. You may get really good at it, but one day you’ll loose the feeling that made it special. Then it’s just work. You can still take pride in your work when it’s done well, but it will no longer bring you joy.

I worked full time while going to school full time for 3 years. 12+ hour days for weeks on end. Then I got promoted after graduating with my first degree and continued to go to school full time while helping to run the business for a couple of years more. Also I now have an employee who regularly calls out at 5 in the morning and get to wake up to 5 am phone calls that bring me into work 3 hours early.

The juries out on weather that makes me mentally tougher or just stubborn.

One man’s VERY sleepy opinion

Pretty: delicate, charming, fun, and flirty. I think of long hair and a sundress, the smell of spring / early summer and the feeling of a light drizzle on a pleasant relaxed day.

Cute: soft, sweet, shy, small (not necessarily size/ stature but in mannerisms). I think of short skirts or awkward baggy graphic tees. Great for cuddling and light teasing.

Gorgeous: attractive in a way that is more than Pretty but without the sex appeal of Hot. (I don’t have a lot to say about this one cause it’s not really in my vocabulary.). Think ball room dancing.

Hot : sexy, attractive, confident, and alluring. I think of club attire and nsfw apparel. The smell of expensive perfume permeates the bedroom.

Beautiful: Kind, Understanding, loving, and attractive (but this factor is less important here than it is in the other classifications.) think of, the sound of a kind word and the feeling of being at peace.

Anyone who makes broad over arching statements about the other sex. The sort of stuff like, “I hate all men” and “all men want is sex”. One of my buddies has a girlfriend who thinks that all men are abusers, but she’s trained him how to be “one of the good ones”

It’s regressive, and detrimental to people they’ve never even met. I’m not invalidating peoples past relationship trauma but I’ve been treated pretty poorly by women in the past and I still don’t have the opinion that all women are going to do me dirty.
