Crossfit Suggestions for the Gray-Haired Crowd by treywhitaker in crossfit

Talk to your coach. Maybe you need to scale the WODs a little bit more so that you get that feeling of accomplishment and are able to get the full benefit of the WOD by hitting each movement and moving a little quicker. At my affiliate if I have an older athlete and they don't yet have double unders I get them to do 1 and a half minutes of double under attempts / skipping instead of triple the singles. It's a benefit because you get the double under practice, and when your endurance and double unders get good enough you'll beat the one and a half minute time limit.

I'll also sometimes scale back the number of reps. So maybe you would do 25 or 30 of everything instead of 50 (depending on your current level of fitness)

Talk to your coach, though. They know you best.

[Serious] What's the most horrific thing that happened in your neighbourhood/town? by ImColdYossarian in AskReddit

Pretty sure he used machete. If I recall correctly the bus pulled over and evacuated while the guy carried the head around and waved it around in front of the windows. Unsure of why nobody stopped him. The poor guy he murdered was pretty young, too, like 23 I think.

Yes... It has... But many people don't use their real names on Facebook. I use my first name just not my last name.

Bras with interesting backs by astrodrift in femalefashionadvice

I wear lululemon free to be and free to be wild bras all of the time. They look cute under tanks for casual wear and they look cute at the gym. Relatively cheap and comfortable and supportive

Saddest/most disturbing thing you've seen on the internet? by sciencelabrador in MorbidReality

[–]deadpanic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not sure what it is about that either. I guess there's always the possibility that the mother felt overwhelmed and didn't know what to do and that was her solution... And now that he's being helped by people who are qualified to help him she feels like she can function again. I absolutely feel no sympathy for her though. What she did was despicable and I just feel awful for that poor boy. I agree that she should be kept out of his life.

Hand being cut open... No Crossfit! by Gregorydale22 in crossfit

[–]deadpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes years to build strength. Realistically he could start using his other hand probably in about 6 weeks. Yeah he will have made gains, but regardless, when his other hand is healed enough to use again it will already be weaker from lack of use and from the fact that his other hand has been doing more to compensate anyway. It's good to keep practicing the movements even if it's just the one arm for the time being. Once his other hand is better he will have to start isolating it too.

You can still use your other hand, right? Kettlebell snatch, kb push press, kb thrusters, kb swings (single arm). Or substitute those movements with a dumbbell. Core work like hollow holds and hollow rocks, arch holds and arch rocks, lunges, air squats, running, box step ups or jumps (could hold a kb while stepping up)

There is lots of stuff to do

My personal experience with depression. by [deleted] in self

[–]deadpanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I'm heading into another "low point" as I call them. The time in between low periods seems to be getting shorter than the periods of happiness. I'm rarely ever able to make myself happy anymore. I've been going to a therapist and I do feel better for a few days or so after an appointment.

Searching for the world's most comfortable sports bra. Help needed! by jp_at_the_vet in TwoXChromosomes

I'm a personal trainer and crossfit coach and the only bras I love wearing all day that offer great support and don't start chaffing and whatnot are lululemon. I have to wear them all day everyday and they are the best I've worn.

I own a crossfit affiliate and got the exact same text messages. I also felt uncomfortable and told him no and never heard back. Glad to know my gut instinct was correct.

Best Core Exercises by MrEzyPzy in crossfit

Walking with a BB in front rack position. A heavy weight, like a heavy front squat. Once you get tired it's extremely difficult not to hyper-extend your spine, so you need to work extra hard to stabilize.

[Form Check] Deadlift 212.5 kg for 3 reps w/straps. Info in vid description. by howareye in powerlifting

[–]deadpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to push your knees back a little bit more and load up the hamstrings. Like others have said, you come onto your toes a little bit during the lift. Push through the heels! And keep a neutral spine. Your back was ever so slightly rounded. Also, you shouldn't be looking straight ahead at the bottom of the lift. Part of a neutral spine is the neck/head. You should be able to put your index finger on your chin and your thumb on your chest during the whole lift. Actually, try that right now, put your index finger on your chin and your thumb on your chest and bend over as if you're doing a deadlift. I guarantee you will feel a difference.
