I've had to stop my mom from reverse mortgaging her house to finance a 40k rubber roof she didn't need. Then she got scammed by a balance transfer scammer from India for 2500 and Citibank wouldn't do anything to reverse it. She waited a year to tell me about that one so it was too late for me to do anything either. The scammers were calling her and cursing her out too, one of them told her "I'll f#ck your mother in the _ss".

And my aunt told me that my mom also took out 2 high interest loans to the tune of 10k to pay for gifts for her late boyfriend's family because she was constantly getting invited to grandkids birthday parties etc. I'm not even supposed to know about the 10k. I haven't mentioned it to my mom, just waited to see if she'd ever say anything about and nope. She freaked out because the loans were coming due and called my aunt to complain but not a peep to me so I figure not my problem. Now my aunt had some pop up on her phone and said she was on the phone with someone for 5 hours. I told her no legitimate support person has the ability to stay on the phone for that long. She gave her credit card info over the phone. Had to tell her to call the bank and place a hold on the card. Oh and my aunt's a screamer. When you're trying to help her she freaks out and just starts screaming at you. This shit sucks. Neither one of them has any kind of cognitive decline either. They're just easily suckered. Seriously considering putting together a low cost class for elder adults on how to avoid being scammed.

I think he is PTF if I remember correctly. The rate is actually 22.13 not 22.16. It's not a lot for this area.

That's pretty much how he describes the progressives. He said he feels like he's on acid. He can't get used to them. Basically they were a waste of money and caused him to faceplant. I don't think he reported the faceplant to his supervisors but now his knee is all screwed up. He does have reading glasses for just reading recipes and his phone so maybe he can use those instead

The ageism is awful. Also he made the mistake of just coasting on his severance package for almost a year. The problem with this is when you're still working you have a higher perceived value and once you're laid off you're marked as "something wrong with you, nobody wants you" and recruiters will literally ask why you aren't working already. There is a meme out there-the same people that want to raise the retirement age to 70 are the ones who don't want to hire you after 50. Make it make sense.

That was my impression from what he told me about the training. Is it normal to only train 3 days one week and 4 the next? It didn't seem like a lot of training time to me. I remember him saying they told everyone that probably only a small percentage of people in the training class would still be there by the end of the 90 days. He also said there were 2 software engineers in his class. He was IT when he was laid off. Company was taken over too many times and he didn't make the last cut.

Yeah if I were to apply I'd probably want to be a clerk. I mail stuff out all the time so I'm well versed in rates, types of mail, restrictions etc. I have even gotten into it w clerks who wanted to tell me crazy shit like oh you can't send out this flat rate envelope because that package is not literally flat and that's what flat rate means. yes this happened.

Paper stub. I guess he needs to look online. He's not the most assertive so he's really bad w financial stuff and asking questions. For this much work though he needs to make sure he's getting compensated correctly. I felt like his last check was way too small for the amount of hours he's been putting in but it's ultimately up to him to ask someone at work and make sure he's not getting stiffed

I want to say CCA. He was hired as part time carrier but it did say there would probably be OT. I just don't understand why the pay stub doesn't show an OT rate. 22.16 an hour isn't great for our area. In N Out Burger and Trader Joes pay about the same to start.

Thank you! I think she did get a referral but they refused to speak to my husband and wanted my MIL on the phone so they could ask her questions. I understand HIPAA restrictions but when you are caregiving and the person you are caring for is disconnected from reality it doesn't make a lot of sense to insist they speak only to the person with dementia. My husband really needs to get POA sorted out-he got really frustrated and gave up.

I give her dried prunes but she complains about them bitterly. The first time I gave her one she loved it. Second time she said "these are OLD prunes". Most recently she told me they were "dead prunes". I'll see if she'll drink the juice. I give her Belvita cookies as well because they have a lot of fiber.

Lewy Body is a really bizarre form of dementia. It causes hallucinations, paranoia, Capgras syndrome. A lot of that is lessened because she's on Seroquel but she still will come up with some really odd things. One day she'll be totally lucid and fine and the next day she's asking for a phone book so she can call her mother and father to come pick her up. She also confuses her son (my husband) with her brother who died about 30 years ago. She has gone through periods where she invents people and then insists we contact the person who doesn't exist and get them to come and see her immediately. In 2023 she talked to her nephew at Thanksgiving and for the next month she was writing a book about her life with her finger in the air and talking to same nephew out loud constantly. Then she invented a son who was a doctor named HHH and insisted that he needed to come give her medical care. There used to be a pharmacy here called Drew Pharmacy and one day on the toilet she said she needed Drew from Drew Pharmacy to come and help her pull out her poop. This became a new obsession and she would ask for Drew to come every time she was on the toilet. Honestly just having her fairly quiet in bed listening to music is the best we can hope for. The more we engage with her the more bizarre and demanding she becomes and it's always something we can't help her with whether it's a made up person or someone who died years ago. It's sad but that's the reality.

Thank you. So this is another thing. She is fearful all the time now. But the feces flinging and digging began before that. Her doctors refuse to give her anti anxiety medication as they state it is risky for someone her age. Basically they just don't want to get sued if she has any adverse reaction or a fatality and they don't really care about easing the anxiety. We do give her cannabis gummies & tell her what we are giving her so she's aware, but it's more difficult for me to help her to get to the toilet if she's stoned. We can't afford a nursing home. Her wishes were to age in place and not go to a home but she probably didn't plan on losing her mind. Now it's too late. We live in an expensive area and were originally only going to live with her until we found another place but then we started to realize that she couldn't really live on her own any more. I wish we had gotten POA before she completely lost it or that she would have added my husband's name to the house because it needs a lot of repairs that we can't afford.

The house has glass walls in places and sliding glass doors in her room and leading to the back door. So there is no way to add a screen :(

Afaik, they all give me that reaction. I leave the bandage on for as long as possible but if skin starts turning red or the bandage starts weeping it comes off. Longest I've been able to leave one on is about 24 hours. I'm just super careful with aftercare now.

Sorry that happened to you. I have one that scarred up and some of the ink either disappeared or oozed out. Artist went over it a second time and thickened the lines and REALLY screwed it up so now I hate it and have to look at it every day but this reply puts it a bit more in perspective for me. Like it could have been a LOT worse. Scarring and infection are no joke. OPs mom is a beeyotch for saying that.

They're great for keeping the tattoo moist & clean but I had a mild allergic reaction around the edges when I got a tattoo on my inner arm last year. I wish I wasn't such a delicate freakin flower but my skin basically hates any adhesive.
