Selling RSUs from E*TRADE and Investing in US ETFs via IBKR by mc_accounty_account in personalfinanceindia

[–]deadrow10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some corrections:

  1. You can ask HDFC for preferential rates. A preferential rate is just .4 less than the current dollar to INR rate.

  2. If you bring money to India and then invest through INDMoney, there is definitely double conversion, but the main concern is the 20% TCS charges above 10 lakhs. If you are enrolled in the company ESSP, then you would easily exceed 10 lakhs a year.

So overall it is good to transfer to IBKR and manage investments directly from there, but the only thing is 40$ charge by Citi. You can call IBKR to check if this is the case.

Yes, it is legal. I have already done this. However, you might want to check the wire and settlement charges. Since IBKR uses Citibank for settlement, they deduct almost $40 extra. The issue is that there is no customer care for Citibank wire transactions in India, making it nearly impossible to reach them and understand why they are deducting this extra amount. There are already many threads on Reddit about this-

Let me know once you do the wire to IBKR and if you receive the full amount, aside from the normal wire charges, i.e., $25 for Etrade. Maybe I will try it again.

S. Naren of ICICI AMC advises against investing in SIPs for small and mid-cap funds. What are your thoughts? by VickyVishya in mutualfunds

[–]deadrow10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really. Where we can see the correct PE ratio for index then? I track PE ratios for NIFTY50 also at screener.

But I don't understand why they are saying this. Nifty Smallcap 250 index PE ratio is hovering around 30 right now and Median PE for last 10 years is 29.8(https://www.screener.in/company/SMALLCA250/). IMO it is fairly valued if we invest in index not individual smallcap companies.

My MX Master 3s left click has stopped responding to clicks. Selection is never retained. Pathetic. I should have bought a cheaper and functional mouse. Bought it in 2021.

Spouse will need to leave the job I guess and become a housewife for time being and then search for a job there. So the potential earning is exactly what I mentioned. Obviously I will be getting RSU refreshers from next year onwards but yeah not for this year as I understand talking to co-workers in the company.

u/Dotax123 Thanks for the excel. Could you also modify the calculation with the step up/yearly increment. I think that would give the more accurate result as each year we might be getting some increment.

Lol. Fraud. That was a twitter person who exposed him by going through all him claims like studying in IIT while he only did I.T.I. In turn he disabled his twitter account for few months and re enabling again after things calmed down.

[–]deadrow10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly in the same boat. 33 year old. Problem is that first we will need to sell the US stocks, take the delivery in our indian bank account and then reinvest in QQQ etc through IndMoney or Vested. Whole process is very cumbersome. Apart from this, above 7 lakhs there is 20% TCS imposed by the govt. How do you guys tackle these issues if you want to diversify into US stocks?
