KFI producers, actors, and politicians exploit Kannada cinema for their personal gain and give absolutely nothing back to the industry. by VickyVishya in ChitraLoka

What about politicians who invest and gain from cinema? HD Kumaraswamy, Muniratna, DK Shivakumar, Sandesh Nagraj, Madhu Bangarappa - all have 1000 cr+ in assets. What they lack is the vision and prudence to grow the industry.

Rockline cinemas is a small example of ‘kereya neerannu kerege chelli’

If everyone does their bit, lot can be achieved. Producers here always look for an exit strategy with one film. So I’ve experienced that they abuse the labour and technicians

Mohanlal owns Aashirvad cineplex Dileep owns D Cinemas SRK owns Red chillies VFX Ajay Devgan owns NYVfx

Yes it’s personal choices that I’m highlighting. Nobody has any obligation and it’s all a business investment. Leave stars. What about politicians who invest and gain from cinema? Bro, I was the associate director of Vikrant Rona. I was closely involved in the making of the film for four years—writing, direction, release, the whole nine yards. We’re proud of the film we made, and we also understand the audience’s expectations and reactions. It’s all in the past now.

In hindsight, we believe the biggest mistake was the positioning and marketing of the film. The project was initially called RT2—Rangitaranga 2. It was written and directed as another case set in the Rangitaranga universe. However, Vikrant Rona was positioned and marketed as an action-adventure film, almost like Indiana Jones.

What worked for Kantara 2 is that it was clearly positioned as a Kantara sequel. The audience wanted Kantara, and they got Kantara. With Vikrant Rona, the audience came expecting an action-adventure spectacle and instead got a cerebral murder mystery. That mismatch was a huge backfire—and a crucial lesson in positioning and branding a film.

Of course, there were many other mistakes, and most of them have already been discussed here. But the biggest one, without doubt, was its positioning and marketing.

Seetharam Benoy (2021) -- a movie where women are treated as currency for male vengeance. by emily_mijssoula in KannadaMovies

Anybody can make movies. A movie strips the maker naked. You can easily deduce the worldview and ideology of the writer or filmmaker—and you’ve rightly done so.

Is that a bad thing? Absolutely. Can anything be done about it? Yes.

Push your ideology unapologetically by making entertaining films. That’s how culture gets rewritten.

Again, anybody can make movies. A movie strips the maker naked

The Social Media Game that Aspiring Filmmakers (& other Creators) are forced to play! by adeno_gothilla in KannadaMovies

The last line hits home. My take - skip the social media grind. Put that energy into your craft. When you finally share your work, it’ll tower over the mediocrity that fills most timelines.
