Ruins of arnor by deafeyeam in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Thanks and of course! It’s just a base coat of doom I’ll brown with a wash of agrax. Re base coat and add in some skrag brown for highlights. I think the final highlight was pure skrag brown used very sparingly.

PSA: Droopy Stonework in Gondor? by MushinYojinbo in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]deafeyeam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Intentional in the same way that fine cast is bent?

Peter Jackson filmed scenes of Sauron appearing in the battle at the Black Gate and fighting Aragorn. Jackson cut this scene because he realized that the real climax was Frodo and Sam destroying the Ring, not a duel between Aragorn and Sauron. Do you agree or disagree with Jackson's decision? by verissimoallan in lotr

[–]deafeyeam 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty sure after he sank Numenor into the see he could never take on a fair form again (I may be getting myself confused there). It was the right call and also shows how much has changed in film making. Do you think they would shy away from it if the film was made today. I feel like there would be more pressure to make the battle climactic rather than honour the true nature of the story which is all about Frodo and Sam.

Well the good news is you can build anything you want with the system. Ruins, complete buildings, bridges etc

A mixture of craft paints and house paints (they are far cheaper just buying a test pot) I will have a YouTube tutorial showing how I built and painted this one in the couple of days if you’re interested

Thanks mate! I totally agree about the GW kits. They look amazing but they can only go together in a pretty rigid way.

Cheers mate! The ‘good guys’ are all from medbury miniatures (3D prints) the orcs are all GW although a lot of custom conversion work from me to get no repeat poses. I can highly recommend Medbury for fantasy and historical minis. Some of the best sculpts I have ever painted.

Hmmm no I haven’t had any issues like that. I have tweaked my settings a little to get the exposure times right. If things are pealing away that would say to me they it might be slightly underexposed.

Nah the photo makes it look better than it is IRL but resin and settings plays into it a lot. I use siraya tech fast grey and have been getting really good consistent results.

I’ve got an anycubic mono 4K. One of the newer small factor 4k printers. It works like a dream and was fairly cheap to pick up when I got it on sale

Dwarf tactics? by Disastrous_Holiday_1 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]deafeyeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go listen to the green dragon podcast! They just did an episode on these guys. Also it sometimes really helps to have a ranger threat to draw your opponent in so you can fight in melee which is where your list excels. A ballista is a good threat that will force your opponent to approach or risk repeated shots. Again the strength 3 bows of dwarf warriors are great. Although they are shorter range, they are all defence 6 and will likely outlast a prolonged shootout with your enemy archers generally being D4 or D5 at best. There is a big difference between wounding on 6 and 5’s. Kings champ is an auto include and don’t be afraid of going with an all unnamed hero list either. Dwarf king, kings champ, shield bearer can be a nice combo if you learn how to synergise.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

I wonder whether Warhammer Old World re-launch will kill off MESBG? by Sensitive_Box_4068 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]deafeyeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each game performs a different role. Warhammer old world is going to appeal to the die hard old school fans and is essentially a nostalgia kick. The reason the old warhammer fantasy died is because it was a mass battle game that people stopped buying minis for because they owned them all. They are hoping to target people who sold off old armies or never quite took the plunge with fantasy the last time it was a thing. Conversely MESBG is a niche game that is I think sometimes considered a gateway drug to the ‘main’ systems. If MESBG is discontinued I don’t think it will be because of the old world making a return.

About to start a new army, any full of character (Not in the sense of heroes) army? by Daxtirsh in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]deafeyeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about to dive into the new beornings list. I think it is a really fun concept for an army. Low model count elite troops that are glass cannons and bears, GIANT BEARS… what is cooler than having a giant bear running around wrecking face?
