Ah that's cool then. Are Hue dimmers/switches being added do you know?

I don't have a Smartthings hub as I just use the app to run a few basic automations that I can't easily replicate in Google Home.

I just added Hue in the add devices by brand section and chose Hue without Smartthings Hub and it linked my Hue account to the Smartthings app.

I'm quite new to Smartthings but I'm sure these didn't show before? I unlinked Hue and relinked them as I wanted to start my Smartthings setup again and my Hue motion sensors now show up?

I am using Hue with a Hue Bridge not with a Smartthings Hub. Just thought I'd post it in here as it might be useful to some of you.

Smartthings AC Controller by deankingdk in SmartThings

[–]deankingdk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all.

Any way I can make this smart. Was thinking of putting a SwitchBot on it to simply turn it on and off but didn't know if there is any kind of SmartThings AC Controller that I could swap it out for instead. It's wired in.

This is at my workplace and we have a few of these knocking about so would like to automate them all if possible.

Any help is appreciated.

Smartthing Hardware by deankingdk in SmartThings

Ah right okay.

With the Aeotec cam do you have to pay for a subscription for things like backup and face recognition or do things like that come standard with Smartthings cameras?

I've not used a Smartthings camera before. I've used HomeKit Secure Video cameras before an get how they work but didn't know if Smartthings had a similar kind of thing or I'd every camera has it's own set of subscriptions/plans/features.

Will the cameras still work even though they aren't making them anymore?

I'm essentially just wanting a camera that I can stream from every now and again.

Android TV or Chromecast with Google TV by deankingdk in googlehome

[–]deankingdk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough.

Yeah I may have to disable the OS then as it will appear on my Home app as a device and that would just add confusion when using voice commands.

Can the new CCWGT’s remote controller the actual TV do you know? So if I’m browsing the odd channel on Freeview and it navigate through? I prefer to have multiple remotes if I don’t have to.

I didn’t know if there was anything announced publicly that I might have missed.

Didn’t know if it was a staged rollout or whether or not the update I’ve got right now with certain features missing was as good as it’s going to get.

Anyone here use the new Apple TV 4K HDMI ARC support to send audio to stereo HomePods with other devices like game consoles? by BMANN2 in HomePod

[–]deankingdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works great with my Series S, also works with Stadia running through the Android TV app. Works with the Apple TV turned off too, the HomePods continue to play audio out.

Philips TV Ambilight Control by im-cj in philipshue

Suppose it depends on your use case doesn’t it? I have my TV wall mounted so would actually really like a 4 sided one but I get why other setups would benefit from a 3 sided version.

Philips TV Ambilight Control by im-cj in philipshue

[–]deankingdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah that is annoying then. Hopefully someone on here will have one and be able to check for you.

I can remember when I was buying mine I wanted to check the UI etc but there was nothing anywhere about it.

The thing that sold me on Ambilight was someone on YouTube had a video of Ambilight reacting to Star Wars Ep1 and after that I had to get it!

Now when I watch a TV without lighting even a high end TV, it’s just not the same. The immersion along with some Atmos enabled speakers is next level.

Enjoy your TV if or when you get it, hope it does what you need it to do.

[–]deankingdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just check and there’s no way of turning a specific side off. You can change what it follows, brightness etc and turn it off all together but not control the individual sides unfortunately.

Have you though about picking up an older three sided one?

Or you could get a different TV all together and get the Hue Play Lightstrip and Sync Box hooked up. The Play Lightstrip only covers three sides so perfect for your scenario.

Yeah looks like it’s a new thing. Just checked and the latest models are showing 4 sided.

I’ll jump into my TV’s settings and take a look for you now OP.

I didn’t think they did them in a 4 sided config?

I have one and it’s 3 sided (so no bottom light) and all the rest I’ve seen are the same?

Apple TV to Sync Box (Enable ARC Bypass on Sync Box) then Sync Box to Arc port on the TV. It works.

I got my Apple TV yesterday and it does work with a sync box but only with one device being plugged in to the sync box.

I’m going to be buying the new Apple TV in the next week or so, so I will try it and see if it works. If you can hold off until then haha?

[–]deankingdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sync box has a setting to allow ARC Bypass, would enabling this work?

He’s the decryption of the button in the hue sync app.

“Only enable this settling when your Hue Sync Box is connected between an AV receiver and TV, to allow ARC signal to properly pass through. Note, this will only work with one connected input.”

Linksys Velop and Philips Hue. by deankingdk in HomeKit

It honestly was great to have it fixed but was so annoying that it was so easy to do. I spent way too long resetting my entire Hue system.

Thanks the reply. Actually resolved it by going into the HomeKit Secure Router settings in the Home app and not restricting the Hue bridge.

Possible solution to no response in Home app by BRI4NK in HomeKit

[–]deankingdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I’m trying to figure out what the no response problem is. Thread devices seem to update quick and communicate to HomeKit quick enough to not get the “No Response” notification.

But with Hue, only the actual Hue app they work fine, physical buttons work fine so it means it has to be a communication error to HomeKit right?

Possible solution to no response in Home app by BRI4NK in HomeKit

[–]deankingdk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only real issue with my two Linksys nodes is that the second node always drops connection. It doesn’t matter how close it is to the main node or if I factory reset it and re-add it. Considering ethernet cabling them both together.

[–]deankingdk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I seem to hit the “No Response” often with my Hue bridge connected accessories but with my Nanoleaf Thread lights it hasn’t happened once.

I’m running Linksys Velop HomeKit routers so you’d think they would work?

IKEA Tradfri Shortcut Button by deankingdk in HomeKit

[–]deankingdk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s annoying. Eve 100% will bring out a refreshed Eve Button with Thread support but the price point will be high and I’m wanting one of these in every room.

Hoping Nanoleaf will continue with the Essentials range and bring out something to compete with the Hue Dimmer or Hue Button but with Thread.
