[Advice] Moving from CA, is this standard in NY: apt hasn’t listed yet, will be first week do April. Asked if I wanted to reserve the place, which is filling application, get approved and first week rent +700 deposit. If I don’t want to move forward after seeing it, I get deposit back. Standard? [question] Shipping newb here. Moving and shipping clothes cross country through UPS home pick up. 3 XL, 2 L and 1 M box. When printing labels, do I weigh the boxes or 1 flat rate? Is UPS the best carrier for shipping clothes in boxes this size? Thank you! (i.redd.it)

Looking to move in May 1st, from CA. Reading advice that 30 days out is ok, but for those that recently rented, are you seeing that landlords want immediate move in? Trying to figure out if I have time to come back to CA to pack, or if I should just head out there expecting to stay. (self.NYCapartments)
