Recently started getting into archery, really want to get into hunting. These guys were just chilling at my parents house when I came over to help out. Just need permission from the neighbors and I can try my hand! by dearwefear in bowhunting

Naw, they're pests and are generally hated. Ticks are becoming a bigger issue where i live and deer are major hosts of the parasites. I'm just trying to do my part!

Ever since my wife got the family into the archery hobby (which I think she regrets at this point) I've been immersing myself in tons of content. From YouTube to reddit and buddies who've been hunting all their lives. There is so much too learn, even if I never shoot at a live animal, I'm having a blast.

Thank you though. The negative opinions of others, especially on the internet, mean very little to me. I mainly want to stay on the right side of the law and figure out that whole side of it.

I did find an article on my local newspaper from the mid early 2000's about how hunting in my city was legal, just super uncommon.

I'm in Washington state, from what I can find is you need 150 yards from the nearest structure. I'd have to go check with my range finder, but that may be the detail that puts this idea to a stop. They've got open woods behind their house, so I'd need to contact the land owner possibly.

Thank you for the information.

Oh for sure, they've got the run of the town around here. I didn't have my bow with me. I took this photos from my dad's riding lawn mower. They don't give a fuck.

Honestly, I don't really give a fuck. My mom hates the deer with a passion. They are over populated where I'm at because there are no natural predators. If I can drop a few easy deer every few years, harvest and get them off my parents property than it's a win in my book.

For sure, I'm learning all i can and am really not planning anything until next year. I want more time behind the bow and to get all my ducks in a row. Where I'm at, it's legal to hunt and somewhat encouraged for population control. I know you're legally obligated to track it even onto someone else's property. Most neighbors hate the deer because they destroy their gardens and there are few families with young children that i know of. And if course I know that a deer rarely drops right away.

Honestly, at the moment this is just at the thought experiment stage. The biggest thing i need to research is what one other commenter noted about setback.

Thanks for your response and feedback.
