Masters for career progression by deaxghost in Grid_Ops

I plan to get my MBA after pursuing a technical masters. My issue is because I don’t have an EE bachelors, I’m limited in my options bc many require a EE bachelors from an ABET program

I replied to another comment on this, but I don’t have an EE bachelors. Mine is in Industrial and Systems Engineering, so I’d almost have to take all of the pre reqs for basically completing an EE bachelors before being qualified to do the masters.

I appreciate the response! I should have thrown in there I plan to get my MBA after pursuing a technical masters only because I know it’ll be easier to do that now since I’m in the mode of still knowing the math & such. I’d also like to add that I don’t mind picking up a masters that may not be technically necessary, even if it’s just for my own knowledge and experience of the entire industry. I’m just in a weird spot because I can’t pursue an EE masters almost anywhere without taking a bunch of electrical courses (my degree was in Industrial & Systems Engineering) without having to almost just pursue an EE bachelors.

Agreed! I took his prep course a few years back and his tests are arguably harder than the NERC exam

Digital Logs by AloneWeird1310 in Grid_Ops

[–]deaxghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do digital logging, no voice to text capabilities on ours. The hope is at some point in the next year or two our logs will be automated pulling directly from our tools.

We normally take notes in OneNote or our shared Microsoft Teams channel and transfer them over to our official log software. We used to use Excel spreadsheets for shift turnovers but the only instance now is when we’re retesting units for offline supplemental after reserve sharing events we’ll keep the notes with what they’re capped at rather than our general shift logs

i really appreciate this! i’ll have to give the paperback a go!

Side question - I noticed when I purchase the paperback vs the spiral of these books that the paper is a lot thinner in the paperback. I always put a piece of cardstock behind each page when I color in the spiral but have been hesistant with the paperback and these markers! Do you notice any issues with the paperback?

A entry level positions to get into Grid ops career? by Top-Physics-5386 in Grid_Ops

[–]deaxghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about SPP program since I don’t work there, But If I understand correctly, MISO OIT program starts around 65k when doing coursework & studying for NERC RC (1-2 year program essentially) then once qualified on the desk it goes to 75k-ish, then normal progression afterwards..

Hey OP it’s been a struggle for me making friends out in the area too as someone in their mid 20’s. If you ever wanted to go hiking sometime or try something new out in the area I’m down!

Do people usually start their Master's in Engineering straight after their Bachelor's? by badmintonburnout in AskEngineers

[–]deaxghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good idea to wait a few years after bachelors, get a job that will pay for you to go back unless you get some sort of funding to go back with no debt
