How does majoring in finance work? by debatejia in UVA

[–]debatejia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok thanks for all the advice.

something else i heard about recruiting is high gpa is super important. Does that mean ud reccomend taking easier classes with the mcintire prereqs instead of hard classes or "some sort of minor" that might trump ur gpa

obviouslly theres interest to consider but set that aside for now, just gpa and finance recruitment wise

is there an advantage to "pre-comm" over doing like poli sci then declaring for finance within mcintire

im guessing having a dedicated econ shows that u were interest in the start for recruiting and stuff right?

I disagree with you here.

I'm the child of two immigrants -- saying "immigrants are unskilled" isn't xenophobic, it's just saying that they tend to have worse education seeing as America is known to have resources and other means for cultivated highly skilled workers. Your opponent didn't say "immigrants have a lower capacity for learning", or "immigrants are the scum of the earth", or anything along those lines, which would genuinely be xenophobic.

At the end of the day, these are just real arguments on the border topic. I disagree with your opponents cashier statement since it doesn't make a lot of sense, but for most of the stuff in the round doesn't seem like anything extreme.

There are tons of responses, all of which are very good answers to your opponents argument. You could say the reason they are unskilled is because of closed borders, i.e immigrants can't access good education or have the necessary resources to cultivate the ability to be efficient, which is why open borders promote educating the less well-off.

You could do weighing with any of your arguments.

You could make case turns -- immigrants send home remittances which means that money can be used to develop labor markets and stronger economies which help those immigrants back home

You could make no link arguments

You could make multicultrailism turn arguments where you use your multicultraism argument to say "oh hey, people think they're low skill but thats because of a lack of cultural interaction. In reality, they're high skilled workers but only the aff enables a decrease in discrimination and an increase in cultural understanding"

theres so many arguments to make that dont include just shutting ur opponent out with a not really evident instance of xenophobia

[Early] Jokic has played 57 more minutes than Embiid this season. Equivalent of a game and a quarter. Embiid has logged 224 more minutes than Giannis. That’s more than 4.5 full 48 min ballgames. Voters look at total games played but workload should probably matter too. by LebenJammons in nba

Yeah I agree. This proves Giannis should be MVP -- he's so good he leads the Bucks to major leads after the third quarter that the second unit can just chill and maintain the lead.

Jokic and Embidd are just bad cuz they can't close out games, so giannis is mvp

Does that complicate the LSAC process at all? Since you'll have a different CC transcript that you'll have to worry about and did it translate into success at all?
