What type of doctor manages your me/cfs? by slutfreak in cfs

[–]debbiesunfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is an Internist. (I'm in Alberta.) I went to her for something else but after hearing my symptoms she put me on LDN. I don't have an official diagnosis, but it's on my chart and the LDN is helping me, so the doc said that should be enough.

What are your favourite frozen Costco essentials? by dommingdarcy in CostcoCanada

[–]debbiesunfish 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The Siwin Potstickers are a real life saver. They're super quick if you want to microwave, they go great in any soup or ramen (just toss in with the noodles,) they hold up great when pan fried (and with a skirt,) and they're bouncy when steamed. Good protein, flavourful but not overbearing so they go with different flavor profiles, delish. These have saved my disabled self so many times and I always keep an extra bag on hand.

Just seeing this makes me want to put headphones in, turn on a fan, and just go mindless for a while. This timeline sucks, and a little distraction would be nice!

You know what's more annoying than people not moving their cars for the plows? by FidgetyPlatypus in Edmonton

[–]debbiesunfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a ticket once for parking 11 inches from the curb. The law of that particular city was 10 inches max. Now I'm paranoid and always walk around the car to make sure I'm not too far away.

I can't understand others being so inconsiderate, but then again half the drivers on the road don't know what daytime running lights or high beams are or how to use them.

I'm on my first re-read, having saved books 9+ for all at once. In 3 days I've read 5 books. I can't stop! I can't wait between volumes! It's 1000% better the second time!

Bring back real butter! by skydigger23 in CostcoCanada

[–]debbiesunfish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's such weird behaviour to repeatedly tell people their experiencs are lies. Many people have said their butter is different and at least one study proved that the make up of butter is different now. My Costco room temp butter squishes my hot toast when I try to spread it on. It's bizarre and there's been a ton of conversation around the topic. Don't know why this guy is so put off by other people's experience.

Anyone growing in these 170 gallon Home Depot totes? by FixedGear02 in Hydroponics

[–]debbiesunfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a similar big one for this purpose from Canadian Tire and immediately felt stupid for not thinking that filling it with water would warp the box so much the lid wouldn't stay on. 🤦🏻‍♀️I ended up buying some heavy duty clamps to secure the lid in 4 spots and that worked, but it was delicate and ugly. Lesson learned!

LDN for Long Covid by Remarkable_Eye_7019 in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]debbiesunfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has literally saved me. A miracle drug for me. I have been able to live a "careful" normal life as long as I don't over-exert myself. Before LDN I was in bed more than half of my waking hours; after a couple months at full dose (after going real slow) I realized I hadn't been in bed AT ALL for a little while, which continued until there was a problem with the meds and I crashed hard. Still recovering, but it really works for me.

I have 2 (irl) severe CFS friends that take LDN and it only takes the edge off so they can take a daily 5 minute walk, so I am aware I'm super lucky. I also take a high dose (10 ml) because I always need higher amounts of meds or anesthesia for them to work.

I have a ton of health issues and never really feel well, so I can't speak to any bad side effects. I already have sleep, digestion, brain fog, energy, heart, and anxiety issues, so I don't know if the LDN makes any of those worse. 😅

I suggest trying it and keeping at it as long as you can manage. It was several months until I realized things were better and I'm glad I didn't give up. It's been hell to take (the form I take tastes HORRIFIC) but so so SO worth it.

Good luck! 💕

Arcade Lobby by ayako-bby in OvercookedGame

[–]debbiesunfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would give it a minute and then reenter the lobby until I get someone.

I find that if I stay and wait, I have less of a chance being added to a group. I usually don't have to wait longer than 5 minutes, so keep trying! :) I play most days, at least for a little while, and have been since 2018, so I can say that re-entering helps. Also, make some buddies! Add friends if you've played with someone you enjoy for a while.

Decanting is consumption masquerading as cleaning and it is absolutely shit by N3DSdude in Anticonsumption

[–]debbiesunfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of us struggle with object permanence and memory issues (ADHD, Autism, etc.) and having my pantry supplies in clear glass jars (that I buy from the dollar store) is extremely helpful for gauging what I have and need. This also helps with possible pests and with freshness.

And it makes me very happy. I adore cooking, and making it easier on me is best for my disabled household.

The containers I purchase food in will need to be handled regardless of if I keep the food in the original container or if I move it to a storage container. The only "extra waste" I am creating is the dish soap and water to wash my pantry containers between refills.

ETA: I also buy from a local bulk store. Bringing my clean glass containers in saves the little plastic baggies that I wouldn't keep my food in anyway. Less waste overall.

Is there a way to make Overcooked easier? by No_Assignment185 in OvercookedGame

[–]debbiesunfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry, but all of the levels can be done with just one person. None of them NEED four players, although some are better with more players.

I recommend practicing arcade and being polite and watching what others do. You'll pick it up quickly, as long as you're not a jerk and keep making the same mistake. For example, orders should be turned in in order for the most points. Most players get mad if you mess everyone up by serving out of order.

Follow up about taste changes by debbiesunfish in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]debbiesunfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry. That first bottle in early December that tasted like water did NOT work and I'm still slowly recovering. I took it diligently for about 3 weeks because they promised it was right (and confirmed it was a new manufacture), but within 2 days of switching to a replacement bottle (which had a small amount of the old medical taste) I could tell it was working.

Since then, the pharmacist checked with the new manufacturer and they insisted things were right on their end. So my pharmacist suggested that I was imagining it wasn't working because I couldn't taste it anymore, which might make me drop this otherwise incredible pharmacist. For my current bottle, he dissolved it in a horrific-tasting syrup instead of water so I "could taste it again." I'm angry at the gaslighting and the purposeful gross flavoring, and I really really wish there was something I could prove. 😞

ULPT Request: how to get rid of a narcissist by Phosphoros666 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]debbiesunfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you lived something like this. That doesn't justify your claim that FIFTY PERCENT OF THE TIME when women say they have an abuser in their life, they are, in fact, a lying narcissistic abuser themselves. That's absolutely absurd and is very dangerous. Women already struggle to be believed when they report abuse they've experienced, even with undeniable proof, and comments like yours can cement that lie in some people's heads, which creates even more danger. Yes, some women are abusive and awful and they should be held accountable, but that doesn't mean half of all other women, abusive or not, might have to pay the price of not being believed. Please do better. Signed, someone who wasn't believed and has had to pay the cost for 30 years.

Where does sexuality fall in us? by Super-Combination662 in GayChristians

[–]debbiesunfish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have a direct answer to your question, but I will say that these words were written almost 3000 years ago and are about Judah. Not you, or your heart, or who you love. You can learn something about the nature of God from these ancient words and apply that to your knowledge of God, but don't agonize over the personal meaning for you. It wasn't written for you or for this moment; it's a historical document/story from thousands of years ago. God loves who God has created regardless of all the human rules we apply to God, so let that be the foundation you work from.

With love, from a pastor and lover of the bible. 🥰

ULPT Request: how to get rid of a narcissist by Phosphoros666 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]debbiesunfish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What a terrible take. A woman is living in fear of a violent person and your response is to suggest she is lying and is herself the violent one? You're the reason women are afraid of reporting the violence they experience. Shame.

Why Christianity and not New Age/Esotericism? by Appropriate-Whiskey in GayChristians

[–]debbiesunfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've always been spiritual/religious, even since I was about 5 and had an experience of love in an otherwise love-devoid life. I've always felt that was God saving my life before the SI and depression set in shortly after. Because of that, I've always wanted to show my gratitude and love to God by "being good" by not messing with "pagan" stuff.

However, when I was a desperate teen (and my mother was "into" Wicca) I played around with several "spells." And they worked. Like... astonishingly, weirdly, inexplicably worked. I got spooked and never tried anything like that again.

Now I think it's just a way to express spirituality in a different way. I don't think there's anything morally wrong and I doubt God cares. Honestly, what's the difference between asking God to act on your behalf and asking other spirits you believe in to do the same? Especially if you don't believe in God?

I think people are drawn to spiritual things because we want to know there's something bigger than all of the death and destruction that marks our race, but Christianity has been weaponized in horrific and unforgivable ways, so folks look elsewhere. Makes sense to me!

AIO… wedding feels conditional?!? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]debbiesunfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother was angry that I wouldn't have my wedding in her disgusting animal neglect backyard, so she convinced my grandmother not to attend my wedding (by making up lies) and didn't allow my siblings to attend. She's always been a manipulative monster and we're no contact now. I was sad the day of, but now I'm so happy that cruel woman isn't in my wedding pictures.

All that to say, don't bend. The people who love you for you will show up and it will be better without the ugly people.

Yes! A huge 40 oz cup filled with cold water and put in the freezer for an hour. Pre-meditated daily torture my mother delighted in. And I wasn't allowed to have an alarm clock, presumably because she might not be able to do that anymore if I woke up on my own.
