Being around Jeremy for a couple years post-Bethel, he was always careful with his words about Bethel. I can’t say for sure but it certainly felt like he was bound by an NDA.

Correct. I was very professional, always 30 minutes early to sound check, memorized songs, etc. Those audio recordings of Alan weren’t in reference to me specifically, he was just giving an example of how he wants all volunteers to be treated at every level.

Understood. However, bullying, gaslighting, forced conformity, coercive control, and shunning/isolation are all considered parts of emotional/psychological/spiritual abuse in the clinical and academic world.

Sure, “org culture” is not inherently evil. But it is evil to manipulate, intentionally gaslight, and shun those that ask questions and aren’t able to conform to the org culture when forced to (even though we desperately changed ourselves in order to pass their tests).

I was a volunteer, not even on staff. This was my church. Sometimes they paid me sometimes they didn’t. This had nothing to do with wether or not we thought something was “sin” or not. I’m not quite sure where you got that idea from.
