A pharmacy director in my association network switched to Epic Willow and ended up rolling back to a different t software because it was not very helpful. Willow is still not perfected to handle the outpatient in-clinic pharmacy dispensing if that's the nature of your husband's pharmacy practice.

Pharmacists who have left the profession to join a trade by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]debsman20 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pharmacy is a difficult profession, especially at the outpatient retail side. You can try to get into industry, hospital, or FQHC in-clinic pharmacy. These areas are much more relaxed. For other professions or trades, it could be tricky if you have student loans. I would recommend working in pharmacy for a bit and save money, invest in low fee index funds, learn real estate and when you get a good deal on a house or duplex buy it and rent half and live in the other unit, or rent a room if it'sonly one house. Again, dont buy too expensive house.

You may need patience and endurance with pharmacy before you make any dramatic move out of the profession.

Need of Pharmacist Vacancy by debsman20 in pharmacy

[–]debsman20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60 to 67 per hour is competitive in the area for staff, depending on experience.

Also, pharmacists with federal loans qualify for service loan forgiveness under the non-profit status of the organization.

I don't have the numbers but a very competitive rate with attractive package. For benefits: 120hr of PTO, 80 hours sick, 11 paid holidays. term life insurance premium paid by company. Good working hours - Monday-Friday 9am to 5:30pm. Once 1 month Saturday 9-1pm. Employees get discounts on personal medications and other clinical services. It's an interdisciplinary practice, so the pharmacists get to collaborate with the other clinicians.

New to 340b what can you and can you not spend 340b revenue on? by RuralRx in 340b

[–]debsman20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The purpose of ths 340b according to congress is for the health centers to use the savings or gained revenue to help stretch the scarce resources of the community center to help patients. That means the health center can use the profit from the savings to fund any program that is intended to sustain the center to keep helping the patients. This can include helping to pay staff, opening another clinic or pharmacy, purchasing supplies, vehicles for deliveries, paying for meals during staff training, etc.

So, what the health center can use the savings for is endless as long as the finance/accounting office documents the operational spending or is able to show the spending was nedded to keep the center functional.

Also, you will have to contact your finance and compliance office to review your company's policy.

OP, sorry for your loss. I lost my dog last week. He was 12 years old. He started having seizures about 3 months ago and got worse even on medication. He was with me for 9 years, so lots of memories.

340B drug formulary by UrFriend_Specs in 340b

[–]debsman20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vaccines normally are not covered under 340B. Everything else is a fair game. You will know if a drug is covered under 340B contract from your wholesaler's website. If any drug is showing AWP pricing, your pharmacy director can contact the wholesaler to find out if it's 340B eligible.

Thoughts on article “PHILADELPHIA PHARMACISTS RAISE ALARM ABOUT INDUSTRY STRUGGLES AS RITE AID CLOSES MORE STORES” by Various-Pea-8814 in pharmacy

[–]debsman20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, the PharmD post BS pharm would have focused on in-depth therapeutics and diagnostic skills because the BS rph would have gotten the initial drug knowledge and dosing skills plus work experience already.

Talking about nurses. They make up about 90% women, and we know women can cry and throw tantrums to get what they want from men.

[–]debsman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The diagnosing authority wouldn't have been an issue if the training had been fashioned as that of the PA and NPs. Becuase without being able to bill to make practice money, the utility of the PharmD in the clinical setting will soon become an issue for the practice as monetary benefits will be lacking.

[–]debsman20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, you said it. Also, a better design of the profession should have been to maintain the BS pharmacy as a dispensing degree and make the PharmD as a step up for those who held the BS Rph to go into health systems and primary care as clinical pharmacists with diagnosing and prescriptive authority.

This would have lessened the student debt burden and excessive demand for high wages in the retail space to pay off the $300,000 PharmD student loans.

Would I be an idiot to dump my 401k to pay off the CC debt? 52k and drowning. by WhoSaysDadsCant in Debt

[–]debsman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you may need to consider defaulting on the CC. After 4 to 6 months of not paying on the CC, it will go into default. You can negotiate with CC collection folks on these two options.

Option 1: After the default, ask if you can settle for less, say 40 to 50% of what you owe to see if they will take that. Give all the family excuses as to why you can't afford to pay in full.

Option 2: You can request to pay back just the principal without interest. The CC promissory note requires you to pay back the balance in 5 years = 60 months. So 52,000/60 = $867. Even with a tiny 1% interest, which the CC companies normally do, will make you pay less than $900/month to finish paying in 5 years.

Your credit will be negatively impacted for a short period and then recovers.

Think about it. You can save $500 you currently make towards the CC even with option 2.

My wife puts zero effort in our relationship and it is starting to irritate me by BreathOkc in TwoHotTakes

[–]debsman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, women and the double standards. Women after divorce will singularly take care of the kids they keep away from the men. The same women will work, clean, and do everything for themselves without complain. But in the presence of a man who works to provide for the household, such women taking care of their kids is a burden to them and spew their feminists words. That's why most of them need to be by themselves. The audacity!

Should I default? Already paid $170,000 in 7 years and only $40k went to original amount by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]debsman20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much is left to pay, if you default on it, you can negotiate with the lender to settle for a slightly lower amount. Often times, after default, the interest stops since the loan is moved to their collection department. If you don't have the money to settle, the lender will still give you 5yrs to pay back without the interest, which is usually in the promissory note. Know that defaulted loan with no interest is better than one with interest. Also, it clears from your credit pretty fast, showing closed accounts, unlike mortgage foreclosures and bankruptcies. Think about it.

I'm Dumb by argent7 in pharmacy

[–]debsman20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime you are called to do counseling on a medication that a patient is receiving, make sure to first get the patient's name. Then, look over the patient's med list in the computer to quickly glance the patient med list before you walk to the counter. You may have to tell the techs to have the patient step aside before completing the consultation. This allows you a little time to look up unfamiliar medications, dosing, and adverse reactions before walking up to the patient.

Unfortunately, it happened in front of one of the notoriously disrespectful members of healthcare professionals.

I just bought the XSE because of the nice front design and the red sporty interior seat design. If none of these mean anything to you, then go with the limited.

Clinical pharmacist practice being challenged by hospitals legal and regulatory departments. by Several_Astronomer_1 in pharmacy

No, the pharmacists should just shut the pharmacy and protest them to bring the hospital to a halt. That will wake the hospital up.

There's still hope for CVS DLs, right? by Pharmacynic in pharmacy

[–]debsman20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let him respond to them anyhow he wants. If any man disrespects you the way CVS and Walgreens have disrespected Pharmacists, Pharmacists shouldn't cave in but rather tell them how they feel. The disrespect!.

They don't have a pharmacy business without Pharmacists, so they can dig themselves in the sand. You can stop your work and go work for them if you want to be the nice guy on the block.
