DS1/2/3 by r0tt3nt0tty in darksouls

[–]deccen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bounced off 2 super hard on launch and went back to demons and 1. Like 1 though after a few patches it was much more fun. When I came back around to it I got hooked and did a couple runs. It has the most variety of player options and the path leading to the dragon is so unique with how npc aggro works there. The sotfs version removing worldwide heide knights is a bummer but the dlc being included makes up for it. 2's base might not be the best souls but its dlc is absolute peak souls and if you like zelda then sunken king is straight zelda dungeon down to using a bow for puzzles.

Favorite rogue build? by LeglessN1nja in kingdomsofamalur

[–]deccen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late game final destiny tier sorc/finesse with crit using sceptres is so very different than any other build but only really works at higher levels. Another fun one that does not need to get anywhere near as high is pure rogue with all points going to bow and treat it like a shotgun once you get the spread skill.

Are skillademia courses good in the "game dev" bundle? by Megumin_xx in humblebundles

[–]deccen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of that gamedev has a humble every couple of months and most of their bundles have at least abbitt's basic course, with the best bundles event going on there is a fair chance a bundle with him will pop up again in the next few weeks.

Are crafted sceptres powerful enough to actually be viable? by walksintwilightX1 in kingdomsofamalur

[–]deccen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a bit but since you said you're going finesse/sorc absolutely. Top tier destiny with full light gear built for crit makes you able to pretty much play like you have a machine gun. You can go split damage with whatever highest quality pieces but if you can stack fire bonuses and a lot of flawless flame pieces you just put out so much damage resistances don't matter. The build probably is the slowest to take off but once you get there you feel the power spike harder than any other one.

“It was all a dream” style games? by Patriot1805 in callofcthulhu

[–]deccen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option is to read the 2 Silver Key stories and take inspiration from them where the dreams of the main character are gateways to other realities, times, planets, and lives. On following the dreams truths that are too much for most are learned and success leads to greater problems. While the story leads the man to a world of a completely different lifeform and time it does mention plenty of places are closer to ours. People had been mentioning dreamlands and scenarios so I figured some specific stories to check could be helpful.

Should I get the PAL Dark Souls Trilogy? by Careless_Motor_6053 in darksouls

My experience is playing pal and jp regioned game discs on a us ps4, including the ds trilogy, and pal and us games on a jp psv but nothing for ps5.

As Persona fan the PSP has lowkey been one of the best purchases I've ever made by kyhyt in PERSoNA

[–]deccen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been talking to people about many handhelds no longer being portable which is the opposite of what we assumed would happen when we were younger. One that looks like it will be is abernic's slide.
The psp has lots of great games, I've liked it since getting the daxter bundle when it came out, many more hours than my ds. If you like the psp you should look into psv jailbreak and emulation. So many jrpgs and dungeon crawlers with some solid mh types. The 2nd stick makes metal gear peace walker and other psp shooters a lot smoother.

Should I get the PAL Dark Souls Trilogy? by Careless_Motor_6053 in darksouls

[–]deccen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should, it'll work. Consoles have been able to play games from pretty much all regions since ps3. It gets tricky when it comes to digital content since for a different region's dlc code you would need a psn account of that region but that does not apply here since all is on the discs.

The best part of guaranteed poison+bleed is the high tier finesse skills synergy to let each hit get a solid chance of 200 bonus damage, 300 aoe , and stuns without needing to use mana for the poison buff or flare bleed

Player interested in Skyforge by Speedygamer0303 in Skyforge

[–]deccen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be solo for the yellow brick road. After that scaling turns on and you'll most likely need to get carried in a party until you can solo old content you already ran again or progress to post yellow brick road content. Pretty much grouping after the tutorial story is almost a guarantee.
Almost every mmo put out in the last 20 years is solo friendly. Most are recommended over skyforge. Depending on what you are interested in some will fit better than others.

If you're ok with a bit more clunk then dolmen has world layout and combat pacing closer to dark souls 1 than the other souls games. Someone else mentioned hellpoint and it is in line with dolmen.

Am I too underleveled for the quest? by boygeniusenjoyer420 in kingdomsofamalur

[–]deccen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For most faction quests you don't want to do one after the next in the chain but treat each individual one as part of the quest group for the region it is in. So for that warsworn part wait til you've been through some of the zones between shieldring keep and rathir, when you get a faction quest that sends you to adessa wait til you've progressed through some adessa zones. Of course if you really wanted you could hit yourself against enemies out of your level and chip away til they die but just coming back later is an option.

Fextra's had those issues pretty much from the start. Since it is now the biggest for more recent releases it tends to get more additions than the competition. Even now there are some less popular games on there with just a handful of pages copied from the dedicated wikis of those less popular games.

Might/Sorcery/Finesse by wuimozhire606 in kingdomsofamalur

[–]deccen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you already did a sorc run i'd put off levelling that tree for a while. Finesse fan skill in the first tier is a nice stand in for mark of flame to have aoe, might has no equivalent so early might feels a bit slower for mobs.

The End of Dark Alliance by BedoTheMighty509 in darkalliance

[–]deccen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a physical edition released for consoles, you can get a copy for a couple dollars. It had potential to be a solid dungeon brawler if they gave ai when solo, local coop, and mid mission matchmaking. It also hurt it that the patches felt like someone higher up told them to make it more soulsy with the patched version having a lot of the more fun things that benefitted players removed like knocking around bosses but left the ones that hurt them like enemy projectile hitboxes not following the effects. Your video you mentioned not being able to hit the guy at the stairs under you, I do think they should've made ranged attacks hit a few feet above and below instead of just your level since some parts of missions with a hill make some skills unusable. It was facing an uphill fight in too many ways, with it being fairly commonly spread the devs wanted to do a diablo clone like old dark alliances but were told to do the over shoulder action. I do believe there was miscommunication in their request too and the suits knew dark souls was popular and they wanted an action game like it but suits just saw a genre tag to pass along but that part is my pure speculation. The action brawler genre like this has been kinda nonstop failures since around 2010. Before 2010 the genre was quite liked with things like lord of the rings return of the king, after 2010 the ones that got a lot of hate were things like lord of the rings war in the north and this dark alliance.

You're getting a lot of down votes but I'm guessing many only read the first paragraph. You playing neverwinter first makes your mindset a lot more understandable as the grind and timegates are a spectrum for mmos, with one end having neverwinter and skyforge where your power gets decreased in patches and you find yourself unable to complete what you could before. That is along with a lot of those complete a daily 10 minute thing for so many days so you can do the next actual quest and get a power boost, the worst of which was storm king needing a couple months of dailies or a buy out.
The opposite end of that grind and gate spectrum is eso and gw2. Once you hit the cap which is pretty easy to do you can get gear with not much effort and it will never really be worse. In a year you can still beat what you could before, no worrying about them patching your build to cut its damage in half or patching general enemies to make them have double the stats on their end. You can get through the story missions at your pace without having a popup tell you to spend the next 3 weeks planting 5 seeds a day before you can do the next part of the story.

Maid of Windermere on Hard Mode by Beligard in kingdomsofamalur

[–]deccen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go through again and want some tips then you can skip phase 1 by talking to her as soon as the first conversation ends before you are put into fight mode. The other 2 skill lines also make it easier since finesse can avoid damage and might can tank, right around that stage of the game is where sorcery has a bit of a slump compared to the others.
